What is RealBrowser?

RealBrowser is a robust browser automation tool that lets AI agents drive real Chrome sessions rather than relying on headless environments or simple HTTP requests. It operates as a lightweight client wrapping the ceki-sdk CLI and Python SDK. This tool provides a secure, fully visual environment ideal for visual QA, accessibility audits, synthetic testing, and complex user flows.

As one of the highly functional Openclaw Skills, RealBrowser offers three execution modes: Self mode (control your own local browser via a free extension), Marketplace mode (rent another user's browser using USDC), and Earn mode (monetize your idle Chrome sessions). This flexible design ensures that developers have absolute control over latency, costs, and compliance when orchestrating browser tasks.

RealBrowser Use Cases

  • End-to-End Testing & QA: Simulating real user interactions on staging or production sites to verify layout, UI, and functionality.
  • Synthetic Monitoring: Running heartbeat checks on critical SaaS platforms or dashboards to ensure service availability from a residential network path.
  • Accessibility Audits: Navigating real pages to conduct structured reviews of layout, screen readability, and interactive elements.
  • Customer Support Automation: Performing authorized administrative or customer actions directly inside internal panels on behalf of users.
  • Compliant Data Scraping: Accessing public records, news, or HTML-rendered APIs that require genuine JavaScript execution, while strictly respecting robots.txt.

How RealBrowser Works

  1. Discovery: The agent searches the available marketplace schedules or local self-hosted nodes via ceki search.
  2. Session Rental: The agent starts a session using ceki rent, which allocates a unique session ID (SID) and initiates billing (if using the marketplace).
  3. Navigation & Interaction: High-level native commands (such as ceki navigate, ceki click, ceki type, and ceki scroll) are executed step-by-step.
  4. CDP Execution: For complex custom actions, the system routes low-level queries directly using Chrome DevTools Protocol (ceki cdp).
  5. State Capture & Auditing: The agent records layout states, system screenshots, and chat updates by outputting native snapshots.
  6. Session Termination: The agent calls ceki stop to terminate the session, close the containerized profiles, and settle billing metadata.

RealBrowser Setup

Install the Skill

Configure the skill globally within your environment:

clawhub skill install realbrowser

Install standalone CLI

Ensure Python is configured, then install the ceki-sdk utility package:

pip install --upgrade ceki-sdk --break-system-packages
ceki --help

Authentication and Environment Setup

  1. Sign up on ceki.me to generate an API key.
  2. Export the key to your environmental variables before executing agent commands:
export CEKI_API_KEY="your_key_here"
  1. Verify your token works by running:
curl -s -H "Authorization: Bearer $CEKI_API_KEY" https://api.ceki.me/api/auth/introspect | jq '.tokenable_id, .name'

RealBrowser Data Schema & Taxonomy

RealBrowser is stateless between runs, guaranteeing privacy. Data can be exported and imported locally to maintain states across sessions using JSON profile models.

Primary Subcommands and Data Schemas

Command Description Return Payload Structure
rent Reserves and starts a new Chrome instance {session_id, chat_topic_id, schedule_id}
snapshot Captures current browser view, timestamp, and chat {chat, screenshot: PATH, ts}
click / scroll Dispatches interaction coordinates to host browser {ok: true, pointer: [x, y]}
profile export Exports existing session cookies and metadata JSON configuration file saving cookies and localStorage

Script Injection Schema

For custom actions like bypasses, inject custom scripts via CDP expressions:

{
  "expression": "window.open=function(url){window.location.href=url;return window;};"
}

RealBrowser Advanced Features

  • Local Profile Export & Import: Save browser storage, local cookies, and target session profiles to structured JSON files, ensuring stateless runs can carry over persistent states securely.
  • Native Chrome DevTools Protocol (CDP): Direct raw execution access to CDP APIs, allowing custom JavaScript execution (Runtime.evaluate) and granular style controls.
  • Humanized Inputs: Automatic generation of human-like input delays inside ceki type to avoid triggering rigid system validation gates.
  • Window Patching Automation: Utility to rewrite window.open calls dynamically, avoiding unexpected tab switches and keeping interactions inside a unified automation pipeline.
  • Automatic Cookie Banner Handling: Quick-action CDP snippets to identify, reject, or bypass modal cookie preference walls to prevent user-flow blocking.
