What is Resume Styles Kit?

Resume Styles Kit is an Openclaw Skills resume-generation workflow for creating or optimizing job-ready PDF resumes from a candidate’s verified experience. It preserves every project bullet, prioritizes recent or high-impact work, strengthens wording without fabrication, and encourages measurable outcomes only when the figures come from the candidate.

The skill uses HTML and CSS templates with five distinct styles: two-column categories, sidebar pills, minimalist vertical layout, colorful tag clouds, and proficiency bars. It also supports restoring the original four-row skills structure, browser-based A4 PDF conversion, page-flow validation, and batch generation of multiple visual variants from one shared resume body.

Resume Styles Kit Use Cases

  • Create a complete job-application resume from verified candidate information.
  • Optimize project descriptions while preserving every original bullet and technical detail.
  • Produce multiple resume styles for different roles, industries, or presentation preferences.
  • Generate an ATS-friendly minimalist version using the vertical layout.
  • Present broad technical stacks with categorized skills, tags, or proficiency indicators.
  • Restore an earlier four-row skills layout instead of using tags or progress bars.
  • Convert HTML resume files into print-ready A4 PDFs.
  • Batch-generate several styled PDFs while reusing the same resume content.
  • Review page count, project ordering, bullet counts, colors, and layout before delivery.

How Resume Styles Kit Works

  1. Confirm the candidate’s source material, including projects, bullet counts, ordering, skills, education, and any newly added real experience.
  2. Apply the privacy boundary by replacing names, contact details, employers, education details, project identifiers, and private metrics with placeholders or generic examples when required.
  3. Build the resume as HTML with a personal summary, categorized technical skills, complete project experience, and education background.
  4. Select one of five CSS and HTML styles: A two-column categories, B sidebar pills, C minimalist vertical, D tag cloud, or E proficiency bars.
  5. Preserve the full content, place the newest or most relevant projects first, and improve clarity or impact without inventing technologies, companies, achievements, or metrics.
  6. Configure A4 print styling with a 210 mm page width, a 297 mm minimum page height, zero print margins, and project blocks protected from page breaks.
  7. Render the HTML in a browser and export it as a PDF.
  8. Validate page count, layout flow, colors, project order, and the exact number and completeness of list items with the candidate.
  9. For batch output, replace only the skills section or project block with a Python script while reusing the same verified resume body.
  10. When restoring the original skills design, verify that no cloud-tag remnants remain and that the CSS uses the original skill-item structure.

Resume Styles Kit Setup

  1. Prepare a working directory containing the source resume content, an HTML template, CSS styles, and any optional generation scripts.
  2. Add only verified candidate data. Use placeholders or generalized examples for private information when distributing the skill or its templates.
  3. Ensure Google Chrome is installed for headless HTML-to-PDF rendering on macOS.
  4. Open the HTML file in a browser or export it from the command line:
'/Applications/Google Chrome.app/Contents/MacOS/Google Chrome' --headless --disable-gpu --no-pdf-header-footer --print-to-pdf='out.pdf' 'in.html'
  1. For batch generation, use Python string concatenation or targeted substitutions such as re.sub; avoid str.format() when CSS braces are present.
python3 generate_resumes.py
  1. Inspect the generated files and confirm that the expected number of HTML and PDF documents exists. Quote paths containing spaces.
  2. If a fixed-height page uses overflow: hidden, replace it with natural flowing pagination and add .proj { break-inside: avoid; } to reduce project fragmentation.
  3. Keep the HTML source alongside the PDFs so styles can be revised and the documents can be regenerated.

Resume Styles Kit Data Schema & Taxonomy

The skill organizes resume data into a shared content model and a replaceable visual layer.

Data area Expected content Integrity rule
Candidate summary Short professional introduction Use verified information only
Skills Real technologies grouped by domain Do not add unverified tools or frameworks
Projects Project title, timeframe or context, and complete bullet list Preserve every meaningful li and prioritize recent highlights
Education Verified education background Generalize or replace private details when necessary
Metrics Percentages, defect rates, code reduction, business lines, nominations, and similar outcomes Numbers must originate from the candidate
Style layer CSS and HTML structure for styles A through E Change presentation without changing source content
Output metadata Version, author, license, tags, topics, and category mapping Current source metadata includes version 1.0.2, MIT license, and resume-related topics

Typical generated files include:

  • A reusable HTML source file for each resume variant.
  • A shared or variant-specific CSS definition.
  • One or more browser-rendered A4 PDF files.
  • Optional Python batch-generation scripts.
  • Optional archived source directories for future restyling.

The five style schemas are:

  • A: Two-column grid with a category marker and description for each skill.
  • B: Sidebar-style pill followed by an inline description, without forced line breaks.
  • C: Fixed-width left category and right description in a black-and-white, ATS-stable layout.
  • D: Colorful flex-wrapped skill tags for visual technical-stack emphasis.
  • E: Skill name, level, and progress bar, with at least nine entries when the candidate’s real stack supports it.

When restoring the original skills layout, use four skill-item rows in a two-column grid with colored ::before blocks; restoration means returning to that structure, not converting it into tags or proficiency bars.

Resume Styles Kit Advanced Features

  • Five interchangeable resume presentation systems with a shared content body.
  • Truth-preserving content enhancement that improves specificity, selling points, and measurable impact without fabrication.
  • Strict no-summarization handling for long project histories and high bullet-count resumes.
  • Recent-project and career-highlight prioritization rules.
  • Privacy-safe placeholder handling for names, contact details, companies, education, projects, and metrics.
  • ATS-oriented minimalist output through the C vertical layout.
  • Full-stack and AI skill taxonomy support, including frontend, UI, engineering, mobile, and LLM-related domains when actually used.
  • Batch generation of multiple styles with Python substitution and regular expressions.
  • Original skills-layout restoration with skill-item validation and cloud-tag residue checks.
  • Browser-based headless PDF rendering with print-specific A4 CSS.
  • Pagination safeguards using natural document flow and break-inside: avoid on project blocks.
  • Source archiving so HTML and CSS can be edited and PDFs regenerated.
  • Delivery checklist covering list-item counts, project ordering, colors, page count, file completeness, and candidate approval.
  • Compatible with broader Openclaw Skills workflows, including optional Next.js and Cloudflare D1 implementations for programmatic resume generation.
