What is RollingGo Search Flight?

The RollingGo Search Flight skill integrates the powerful RollingGo Flight CLI directly into your AI workflows. It serves as an automated travel assistant capable of parsing natural language prompts into precise, structured flight searches. By using Openclaw Skills like this one, development environments and autonomous agents can programmatically fetch real-time airline data, airport three-letter codes (such as PEK, PVG, BJS), and detailed cabin pricing.

Built to facilitate smooth execution, this utility handles both single-route lookups and complex round-trip scheduling. It enables LLMs and developer agents to solve complex travel queries without manual intervention, converting human intent into structured CLI arguments automatically.

RollingGo Search Flight Use Cases

  • Airport Code Resolution: Quickly translate a natural language city query (e.g., "Hangzhou") into standardized three-letter airport or city codes (like HGH) before launching a flight search.
  • Automated Ticket Comparisons: Programmatically query flight options between specified cities with custom parameters like date, cabin class, and traveler counts.
  • Round-Trip Planning: Structuring both departing and returning flight paths using rigorous parameters required for reliable scheduling.
  • Fallback and Search Optimization: Gracefully applying relaxation parameters to find nearby airports or adjacent dates when direct searches return no results.

How RollingGo Search Flight Works

  1. Requirement Analysis: The AI agent analyzes the user's natural language request to identify the departure point, destination, dates, trip type, cabin preference, and passenger counts.
  2. Airport Code Parsing: If the city or airport codes are unknown, the skill invokes search-airports to query and verify the standard IATA airport codes.
  3. Query Flight Execution: The agent calls search-flights using the resolved codes, specific date format (YYYY-MM-DD), and required trip parameters.
  4. Result Processing: The flight data is output to stdout in a clean JSON format for the agent to parse, while any errors are isolated to stderr.
  5. Relaxation Fallback: If zero results are returned, the agent applies fallback policies in order (alternate airports, adjacent dates, lower cabin classes) to suggest viable alternatives.

RollingGo Search Flight Setup

To get started with this integration from Openclaw Skills, make sure you have the required runtime environment (either Node.js/NPM or Python/uv). Ensure you have your API key from RollingGo.

Environment Variables

Set your RollingGo API key in your terminal or hosting environment:

export ROLLINGGO_API_KEY="your_api_key_here"

Running Commands

Depending on your current execution engine, run the CLI tool directly with NPM or UVX:

Using Node/NPX (Default):

npx --yes rollinggo-flight@latest search-airports --api-key $ROLLINGGO_API_KEY --keyword "Hangzhou"

Using Python/UVX:

uvx --refresh --from rollinggo-flight@latest rollinggo-flight search-airports --api-key $ROLLINGGO_API_KEY --keyword "Hangzhou"

For flight queries, use the following template:

rollinggo-flight search-flights \
  --api-key $ROLLINGGO_API_KEY \
  --from-city BJS \
  --to-city SHA \
  --from-date 2026-10-01 \
  --trip-type ONE_WAY \
  --adult-number 1 \
  --child-number 0 \
  --cabin-grade ECONOMY

RollingGo Search Flight Data Schema & Taxonomy

This tool communicates using standard system exit channels and outputs parseable JSON on success.

Output Channels

Channel Purpose Format
stdout Delivers successfully queried airport records or flight tickets JSON
stderr Captures API errors, missing credentials, or validation faults Plain Text

CLI Argument Reference

  • --trip-type: Accepts only exact values ONE_WAY or ROUND_TRIP. If ROUND_TRIP, --ret-date is mandatory.
  • --cabin-grade: Strict enum matching ECONOMY, PREMIUM_ECONOMY, BUSINESS, or FIRST.
  • --from-city / --to-city: Matches city group codes (e.g., BJS representing Beijing airports).
  • --from-airport / --to-airport: Matches individual airport codes (e.g., PEK representing Capital International Airport).
  • Date fields must respect the YYYY-MM-DD standard.

RollingGo Search Flight Advanced Features

  • Dynamic Version Synchronization: Automatically resolves and runs the @latest release on every execution (via NPX or UVX), avoiding stale data models and outdated client behaviors.
  • Robust Fallback Strategy: Employs an intelligent fallback sequence (alternate airports -> adjacent dates -> adjusting cabin rules) to maximize chances of finding flight availability in low-availability slots.
  • Dual-Engine Support: Operates seamlessly across Node.js environments and high-performance Python virtual environments with uv / uvx binaries.
  • Clean JSON Pipes: Enables painless multi-agent piping by directing pure structured JSON payloads to standard output and diagnostic warnings exclusively to standard error.
