What is TimeFriend?

TimeFriend is a comprehensive productivity integration designed to bridge the gap between natural language thoughts and structured personal management. By leveraging this skill within the Openclaw Skills ecosystem, users can log work sessions, append thoughts to a daily diary, and organize tasks without ever leaving their chat interface. It acts as a digital companion that understands context, such as relative time and multi-level tagging, to ensure your personal data is organized precisely on the timefriend.xin platform.

The skill excels at capturing the flow of a user's day. Whether you are performing a deep-work session or simply want to jot down a fleeting idea into an inbox, TimeFriend handles the API complexity and data formatting behind the scenes. It specifically supports the Beijing Time (UTC+8) timezone by default, making it an ideal tool for users looking for a reliable, hands-free way to track their life's traces.

TimeFriend Use Cases

  • Logging specific activity durations such as 8:00-9:30 reading with tags like #learning.
  • Appending continuous reflections to a daily diary to maintain a consistent habit of mindfulness.
  • Rapidly adding tasks to a categorized inbox for later processing.
  • Checking today's productivity statistics and completed tasks via voice or text commands.

How TimeFriend Works

  1. The user provides a natural language command such as Help me record a meeting from 3pm to 5pm today #work.
  2. The skill parses the input to extract the activity content, start time, end time, and any associated tags using predefined rules.
  3. It communicates with the TimeFriend API using a secure Bearer token to create a record, todo, or diary entry.
  4. For diary entries, it intelligently fetches existing content for the day and appends new paragraphs in HTML format to prevent data loss.
  5. The system returns a formatted confirmation to the user, including details like word counts for reflections or status icons for tasks.

TimeFriend Setup

To get started, you must obtain a token from your settings page at timefriend.xin. Once you have the token, configure it in your Openclaw Skills environment variables:

TIMEFRIEND_TOKEN=tf_your_generated_token_here

TimeFriend Data Schema & Taxonomy

TimeFriend organizes data into four primary structures to ensure a clear metadata taxonomy:

Data Type Key Fields Description
Records content, startTime, endTime, tags Used for time-tracking and duration logs.
Reviews content (HTML), date Daily reflection entries that support append mode.
Todos title, status, taskDate Task management with pending, in-progress, or completed states.
Inbox title, categoryId, status Unscheduled tasks or ideas stored in specific user categories.

TimeFriend Advanced Features

  • Natural language date parsing including relative terms like yesterday or this afternoon.
  • Hierarchical tagging support using the #category/subcategory syntax for granular organization.
  • Intelligent timezone management defaulting to UTC+8 for consistent logging.
  • Automatic HTML paragraph wrapping for daily diary entries to maintain clean formatting.
  • Multi-step category selection for inbox items when multiple categories exist.
