What is Skill Quick Index?

Skill Quick Index is a specialized utility designed to streamline how users interact with their local library of Openclaw Skills. By creating a high-performance local index, it allows for wide-trigger natural language processing that maps broad keywords to precise skill routing. This ensures that even as your collection of agent capabilities grows, your system can instantly identify and prioritize the correct tool for the job.

This skill is crucial for maintaining a responsive and intelligent agent environment. It bridges the gap between vague user prompts and technical skill triggers by analyzing metadata across the workspace and building a categorized keyword database. Whether you are managing browser automation, document processing, or team collaboration tools, this indexer ensures your Openclaw Skills are always reachable through simple, intuitive commands.

Skill Quick Index Use Cases

  • Routing broad natural language queries to specific L1, L2, or L3 skill triggers.
  • Automatically organizing and indexing a growing library of Openclaw Skills by category and keyword.
  • Implementing a priority-based recommendation system for multi-agent workflows.
  • Enabling rapid discovery of niche tools for OCR, media processing, or web scraping within a local workspace.

How Skill Quick Index Works

  1. The tool initiates a scan of the local filesystem located at ~/.openclaw/workspace/skills/*/SKILL.md to extract metadata.
  2. It processes the description, categories, and triggers of all detected Openclaw Skills to build a centralized JSON index.
  3. When a query is received, the script performs a re-ranking based on exact matches, category intersections, and generic intent mapping.
  4. The system returns a prioritized list of recommended skills, ensuring the most relevant tool is selected for execution.

Skill Quick Index Setup

To get started with the Skill Quick Index, ensure your local skills are organized within the standard workspace directory.

# Navigate to the skill directory
cd ~/.openclaw/workspace/skills/skill-quick-index

# Perform a lookup to test the index routing
python3 scripts/skill_lookup.py "automated workflow"

Skill Quick Index Data Schema & Taxonomy

Skill Quick Index Advanced Features
