The slack-personal skill enables seamless interaction with Slack through the slk CLI, specifically designed for macOS users. Unlike traditional bots that require complex OAuth setups or app installations, this tool leverages your existing Slack desktop session tokens. It allows an AI agent to act as your user persona, making it one of the most streamlined Openclaw Skills for personal productivity and workspace management.
By accessing your local Keychain and session data, the skill provides full visibility into channels, DMs, threads, and unread activity. Whether you need to monitor specific conversations or automate repetitive messaging tasks, this integration bridges the gap between your terminal and the Slack interface without the friction of API token management.
Ensure you have the Slack desktop app installed and logged in on your macOS machine. Install the slk CLI globally via npm:
npm install -g slkcli
Run the initial authentication command and grant Keychain access when prompted:
slk auth
Select 'Always Allow' in the macOS Keychain dialog to enable unattended access for Openclaw Skills to function without manual prompts. If auth fails later due to token rotation, clear the cache with rm ~/.local/slk/token-cache.json and re-authenticate.
The skill manages authentication data locally and interacts with Slack's standard message structures. Data is typically organized as follows:
| Component | Details |
|---|---|
| Token Cache | Stored at ~/.local/slk/token-cache.json containing the xoxc- session token. |
| Message Data | JSON-like structures containing message text, timestamps (ts), and user IDs. |
| Channel Refs | Supports channel names (e.g., #general), IDs (Cxxx), or User IDs (Uxxx). |
| Drafts | Synced directly to the Slack cloud editor UI for visibility in the desktop app. |
