What is solo-pipeline?

solo-pipeline is a sophisticated orchestration layer designed for AI coding agents. It transforms fragmented tasks into continuous, automated workflows by chaining individual skills like research, validation, and scaffolding into a single execution loop. By utilizing a specialized Stop hook mechanism, it eliminates the need for manual intervention between stages, allowing developers to move from a raw idea to a fully scaffolded and built project with a single command.

This tool is a cornerstone of the Openclaw Skills ecosystem, providing the logic needed to manage state and progression across complex, multi-stage AI operations. It ensures that the output of one stage, such as a research document, is correctly utilized as the input for the next stage, such as a PRD or a code scaffold, creating a truly autonomous development experience.

solo-pipeline Use Cases

  • Automating the transition from initial market research to a finalized Product Requirements Document (PRD).
  • Streamlining the full software development lifecycle from project scaffolding and setup to planning and implementation.
  • Chaining research and validation steps to verify project feasibility before writing a single line of code.
  • Running long-running AI tasks that require multiple sequential skill invocations without constant human oversight.

How solo-pipeline Works

  1. The user triggers the pipeline by specifying a type (e.g., research or dev) and providing the necessary arguments such as project name and tech stack.
  2. The agent parses these arguments and requests user confirmation, detailing the specific stages and expected outputs to ensure alignment.
  3. Upon confirmation, the agent initiates the first skill in the sequence, such as /research for research pipelines or /scaffold for development pipelines.
  4. A Stop hook monitors the completion of each stage and automatically triggers the subsequent skill based on the predefined pipeline sequence.
  5. The pipeline maintains a persistent state file to track progress, allowing for session reuse and the automatic skipping of previously completed stages.
  6. Once all stages are finished, a completion signal is sent to clean up the state and finalize the operation for the user.

solo-pipeline Setup

To get started with this pipeline within the Openclaw Skills framework, ensure your environment is configured to handle local state files and that you have the necessary base skills installed.

# Ensure the tracking directory exists
mkdir -p .solo/pipelines

# To run a research-to-PRD pipeline
/pipeline research "Your App Idea"

# To run a full development pipeline from scaffold to build
/pipeline dev "project-name" "tech-stack" --feature "description"

solo-pipeline Data Schema & Taxonomy

The skill manages workflow state through YAML-formatted files and logs to ensure transparency and persistence across sessions.

Component Path/Format Purpose
State File .solo/pipelines/solo-pipeline-{project}.local.md Stores YAML metadata, including stage lists, project root, and log locations.
Log File .solo/pipelines/solo-pipeline-{project}.log Provides a detailed execution history and transition logs for monitoring progress.
Completion Signal <solo:done/> An internal string used to trigger the Stop hook for state cleanup.
Dashboard tmux Optional terminal-based monitoring layout for real-time status updates.

solo-pipeline Advanced Features

  • State-aware session reuse that intelligently skips already completed stages to save processing time and tokens.
  • Integrated tmux dashboard support for real-time monitoring of logs and status in a multi-pane terminal view during execution.
  • Configurable iteration limits (Max iterations) to prevent infinite loops during automated building or iterative research tasks.
  • Robust state management with local and global fallback mechanisms, allowing flexible project management across different environments.
  • Seamless integration with the Openclaw Skills stop hook architecture for hands-free transition between different AI capabilities.
