What is Telnyx Network?

The Telnyx Network skill provides a streamlined way to manage private mesh networking and public IP exposure using Telnyx's global WireGuard infrastructure. It is specifically built to enhance Openclaw Skills by providing secure, encrypted tunnels for agent communication and external service exposure. Whether you are running agents on a local machine or a cloud server, this skill manages the infrastructure lifecycle of gateways and peer connections.

By leveraging this skill, developers can overcome traditional networking hurdles like NAT traversal and complex firewall configurations. It supports both a private Mesh Mode for internal node-to-node traffic and an Expose Mode for assigned public IPs, making it a versatile tool for any distributed agent architecture that requires high-performance, low-latency connectivity.

Telnyx Network Use Cases

  • Securely connecting multiple instances of Openclaw Skills across different geographical regions for distributed task processing.
  • Exposing local development servers or webhooks to the public internet via a dedicated, stable public IP address.
  • Building a private registry for node discovery to facilitate direct peer-to-peer communication between autonomous agents.
  • Creating a multi-region mesh network to ensure high availability for agent-based services.

How Telnyx Network Works

  1. The user initializes the network by selecting a preferred region (e.g., ashburn-va or frankfurt-de) and deploying a Telnyx WireGuard Gateway.
  2. Local sudoers permissions are configured via a script to allow the agent to manage network interfaces and WireGuard commands without manual password prompts.
  3. Specific nodes are joined to the mesh, establishing private, encrypted tunnels using the WireGuard protocol.
  4. Nodes are registered in a cloud-based discovery registry, allowing other instances of Openclaw Skills to find and communicate with them using mesh IPs.
  5. If required, an Internet Gateway is attached to provide a public IP and open specific ports for external traffic.

Telnyx Network Setup

Ensure you have a Telnyx API Key and WireGuard installed on your machine. To allow Openclaw Skills to manage the network autonomously, run the sudoers setup first:

sudo ./setup-sudoers.sh

Initialize your gateway in a specific region:

./setup.sh --region ashburn-va

Join your local machine to the mesh network:

./join.sh --name "my-node" --apply

Finally, register the node so other agents can discover it:

./register.sh --name "my-node"

Telnyx Network Data Schema & Taxonomy

The skill maintains all state and configuration in a local config.json file to manage the network lifecycle.

Property Description
network_id The unique identifier for the virtual network on Telnyx
region The deployment region for the network gateway
wireguard_gateway Object containing the gateway ID, endpoint IP, and subnet
internet_gateway Object containing the public IP details (if Expose Mode is active)
peers A list of all connected nodes and their respective mesh IPs
exposed_ports An array of ports currently allowed through the firewall

Telnyx Network Advanced Features

  • Automated node discovery via a registry stored in Telnyx Storage, enabling seamless multi-agent coordination.
  • Multi-region mesh support allowing different gateways to connect to the same logical network.
  • Built-in safety firewall that automatically blocks sensitive ports like SSH (22) and common database ports unless forced.
  • Support for programmatic integration with JSON output modes for discovery and status commands.
  • Seamless integration with Openclaw Skills to enable host-to-local node sessions and direct agent-to-agent comms.
