What is Transifex?

The Transifex skill for Openclaw Skills provides a robust bridge between AI agents and the Transifex cloud-based localization platform. It enables developers and localization managers to automate the management of multilingual content for software, websites, and digital products. By leveraging the Membrane framework, this skill handles complex authentication plumbing and credential refreshing automatically.

Through this integration, agents can interact with high-level Transifex entities such as Projects, Resources, Strings, and Glossaries. Whether you are pushing new source strings for translation or pulling completed translations back into your codebase, this skill streamlines the entire localization lifecycle without requiring manual API key management.

Transifex Use Cases

  • Automatically pushing new UI strings from a repository to Transifex for translation.
  • Fetching translation status and statistics for specific projects or resources.
  • Managing glossaries and translation memories to ensure brand consistency across languages.
  • Automating the creation of translation orders, quotes, and reviewer tasks.
  • Synchronizing localization files between development environments and the Transifex platform.

How Transifex Works

  1. The AI agent initiates a connection to Transifex using the Membrane CLI, which handles the OAuth or API credential exchange.
  2. Once the connection state is READY, the agent searches for specific actions based on natural language intent (e.g., "list projects").
  3. The agent executes pre-built actions to perform CRUD operations on Transifex resources like strings, files, or languages.
  4. For specialized needs, the agent can use the proxy request feature to call any Transifex API endpoint directly while Membrane manages the auth headers.
  5. The agent processes the returned JSON data to update local files, notify team members, or trigger downstream CI/CD workflows.

Transifex Setup

First, install the Membrane CLI to enable Openclaw Skills to communicate with the platform:

npm install -g @membranehq/cli@latest

Authenticate your agent (replace <agentType> with openclaw):

membrane login --tenant --clientName=openclaw

Create a connection to Transifex:

membrane connection ensure "https://www.transifex.com/" --json

If the connection state is BUILDING, poll until it is READY:

npx @membranehq/cli connection get <id> --wait --json

Transifex Data Schema & Taxonomy

The skill organizes data around the standard Transifex hierarchy and supporting metadata:

Entity Description
Core Hierarchy Project > Resource > Translation
Content Strings, Files, Segments, and Keys
Collaboration Teams, Users, Organizations, and Comments
Linguistic Assets Glossaries, Translation Memory, and Style Guides
Operations Jobs, Tasks, Orders, Quotes, and Webhooks
Analytics Stats for Projects, Resources, Languages, and User Activity

Transifex Advanced Features

  • Natural Language Action Discovery: Find the right tools by describing your goal instead of memorizing API endpoints.
  • Automated Credential Refresh: Membrane manages session persistence so the agent never loses access during long-running tasks.
  • Direct API Proxy: Full access to the Transifex REST API with automatic base-URL appending and header injection.
  • Multi-Agent Support: Tailored tooling adjustments for different agent environments like Openclaw, Claude, or Windsurf.
  • Long-polling Connection Management: Built-in support for waiting on asynchronous connection building and user authentication actions.
