What is UnraidClaw?

UnraidClaw is a sophisticated integration designed to bridge the gap between AI agents and Unraid server administration. As a standout choice among Openclaw Skills, it empowers developers to manage Docker containers, virtual machines, and system arrays through natural language or automated workflows.

By exposing 11 distinct categories of system functionality, it transforms a standard Unraid setup into a highly responsive, AI-managed environment. The integration prioritizes security, utilizing a 22-key permission matrix that ensures every action taken by an agent is authorized and logged.

UnraidClaw Use Cases

  • Automating Docker container lifecycles including starting, stopping, and restarting services via AI.
  • Remote monitoring of Unraid array health, parity status, and individual disk SMART data.
  • Managing Virtual Machines (VMs) through simple commands to reboot, pause, or inspect status.
  • Streamlining system maintenance tasks such as log reading, share configuration updates, and system reboots.
  • Enhancing server security and auditing by routing all AI management through a strict permission-gated API.

How UnraidClaw Works

  1. The AI agent connects to the Openclaw environment and identifies the available UnraidClaw tools.
  2. When a command is issued (e.g., "Stop the plex container"), the tool sends a request to the UnraidClaw plugin residing on the Unraid server.
  3. The server-side plugin validates the request against a pre-configured 22-key permission matrix to ensure the action is allowed.
  4. Upon authorization, the plugin executes the system command (Docker API call, VM management, etc.) on the Unraid OS.
  5. The results or status updates are returned to the agent, and the activity is logged in the Unraid WebGUI for full transparency.

UnraidClaw Setup

First, ensure you have Unraid 6.12+ and the UnraidClaw plugin installed from the Unraid Community Apps. Generate your API key in the Unraid settings. Then, install the package using the following commands:

npm pack unraidclaw && openclaw plugins install unraidclaw-*.tgz && rm unraidclaw-*.tgz

Add the configuration to your ~/.openclaw/openclaw.json file:

{
  "plugins": {
    "unraidclaw": {
      "serverUrl": "http://YOUR_UNRAID_IP:9876",
      "apiKey": "YOUR_API_KEY",
      "tlsSkipVerify": true
    }
  }
}

UnraidClaw Data Schema & Taxonomy

UnraidClaw organizes its management capabilities into structured categories to ensure the AI agent understands the server context. Data is organized as follows:

Category Data/Operations Managed
Containers Docker state, creation parameters, and resource inspection.
Storage Array status, parity check progress, share allocation, and disk SMART data.
Virtualization VM lifecycle states (pause, resume, reset) and configuration details.
System Syslogs, network interface details, CPU/Memory metrics, and user info.
Notifications Event history, creation of new alerts, and archive management.

UnraidClaw Advanced Features

  • Granular Permission Matrix: A 22-key (resource:action) system to restrict AI agents to specific tasks.
  • Comprehensive Docker Management: Beyond simple starts, it supports container creation and deep inspection.
  • SMART Data Integration: Allows AI agents to proactively monitor disk health and predict potential hardware failures.
  • Secure API Architecture: Features TLS support with optional skip-verify for self-hosted environments using private certificates.
  • Real-time Notification Control: AI can programmatically generate or clear server alerts based on system events.
