The Video Edit Compare skill acts as a verification helper for creators, editors, and automation pipelines. Built to integrate with Openclaw Skills, this system establishes a reliable methodology to evaluate a final video render against its original source asset. The comparison places the continuous raw source in the left panel and maps the edited, speed-adjusted final pixels onto the original timeline on the right. Gaps are automatically replaced with black frames, while original audio is maintained continuously to establish a clear temporal baseline.
This approach eliminates manual timeline mapping checks and helps verify that edits, speed adjustments, color grades, and graphics titles align with the target source timeline before final review delivery.
Ensure python, ffmpeg, and ffprobe are configured in your system environment. Install Pillow for image labeling support.
pip install Pillow
Run the Python utility to render the video comparison:
python scripts/make_compare.py work/timeline.json input/original-video.mp4 final/final-video.mp4 review/04-edit-compare/original-vs-final-source-time.mp4
To construct review configurations, label assets, and filter plans without writing the video comparison file, execute:
python scripts/make_compare.py work/timeline.json input/original-video.mp4 final/final-video.mp4 review/04-edit-compare/original-vs-final-source-time.mp4 --filter-only
