What is VirtualOver?

VirtualOver is a professional-grade video editing tool designed to layer virtual elements onto real footage with precision. As a key component of the Openclaw Skills ecosystem, it handles complex compositing tasks like adding semi-transparent watermarks, animated lower-thirds, and HUD graphics without the need for manual timeline management. It supports a wide array of formats including mp4, mov, avi, webm, and mkv.

By integrating directly with the NemoVideo rendering engine, virtualover provides developers and content creators with the ability to automate visual enhancements. Whether you are producing marketing content, social media reels, or technical tutorials, this skill simplifies the workflow by translating natural language descriptions into high-quality video renders through Openclaw Skills protocols.

VirtualOver Use Cases

  • Adding branded logo watermarks and semi-transparent graphics to product demos.
  • Generating animated lower-third title cards for interviews and corporate presentations.
  • Layering virtual HUD displays and sci-fi interface elements onto drone or action footage.
  • Applying instructional callouts and highlight boxes to screen recordings and training videos.
  • Automating the application of consistent visual branding across large batches of video assets.

How VirtualOver Works

  1. The skill initiates a connection with the NemoVideo backend and verifies the environment for an active NEMO_TOKEN.
  2. Users upload their base video footage and describe the virtual elements they wish to overlay.
  3. VirtualOver parses the user's intent to determine spatial positioning, timecode triggers, and visual properties like opacity.
  4. The request is processed through the NemoVideo SSE pipeline, which performs motion tracking and alpha compositing.
  5. Once the rendering is complete, the skill provides a download link for the final polished production.

VirtualOver Setup

To get started with this skill in your Openclaw Skills environment, ensure you have the necessary environment variables configured.

Set your API token:

export NEMO_TOKEN="your_api_token_here"

If you do not have a token, the skill will automatically generate a client identifier in ~/.config/nemovideo/client_id and obtain a temporary anonymous token for you. Ensure your local environment has access to the NemoVideo API domain.

VirtualOver Data Schema & Taxonomy

VirtualOver manages video projects through a structured session state that maps tracks and metadata.

Field Type Description
t Array A collection of tracks representing video, audio, and text layers.
tt Integer The track type identifier (0 for video, 1 for audio, 7 for text/graphics).
sg Array Segments defining the start and end duration in milliseconds.
m Object Metadata including resolution, bitrate, and file format information.
state Object The current draft status including draft IDs and generated media URLs.

VirtualOver Advanced Features

  • Real-time motion tracking and depth estimation for pinning graphics to moving objects.
  • Support for transparency and alpha channels in PNG, GIF, and WebP overlay assets.
  • Granular control over positioning using coordinate-based or relative (top-right, center) placement.
  • Automated session persistence and state polling for long-running render tasks.
  • Native support for multiple audio and video tracks within a single compositing session.
