What is Worksnaps?

The Worksnaps skill for Openclaw Skills provides a seamless bridge between AI coding agents and the Worksnaps time tracking ecosystem. It allows developers and managers to automate the oversight of remote teams, track employee work hours, and manage project metadata without manual data entry. By leveraging the Membrane framework, this skill ensures that complex tasks like session monitoring and activity reporting are accessible via simple CLI commands or natural language intents.

Built for modern workflows, this integration eliminates the friction of manual time logging. It empowers teams to synchronize their productivity data with their development environments, ensuring that every billable hour is accounted for. Whether you are building a custom dashboard or an autonomous project management bot, this addition to your Openclaw Skills library provides the necessary infrastructure for professional-grade time management.

Worksnaps Use Cases

  • Automating the retrieval of time records for specific team members or projects.
  • Synchronizing client and user lists between Worksnaps and external CRM or ERP systems.
  • Monitoring remote team activity levels to generate automated daily productivity summaries.
  • Starting or stopping timers programmatically based on development lifecycle events (e.g., git commits).
  • Fetching project-specific time logs to facilitate accurate client invoicing.

How Worksnaps Works

  1. The AI agent initiates a connection to the Worksnaps domain using the Membrane CLI to establish a secure link.
  2. Membrane handles the OAuth or API key handshake, abstracting away the credential management and refresh logic.
  3. The agent searches for specific actions (like fetching projects or users) using natural language intent queries.
  4. Commands are executed via the Membrane action runner, which translates agent requests into Worksnaps API calls.
  5. If a specialized endpoint is required that isn't covered by a pre-built action, the agent utilizes a proxy request to communicate directly with the Worksnaps API with automatic header injection.

Worksnaps Setup

First, install the global CLI to enable Openclaw Skills to interact with your environment:

npm install -g @membranehq/cli@latest

Next, authenticate your agent (replace <agentType> with your specific tool like openclaw or claude):

membrane login --tenant --clientName=<agentType>

Create a connection to the Worksnaps service:

membrane connection ensure "https://www.worksnaps.com/www/index.shtml" --json

If the state is BUILDING, poll for readiness:

npx @membranehq/cli connection get <CONNECTION_ID> --wait --json

Worksnaps Data Schema & Taxonomy

The Worksnaps skill organizes data into several primary entities, accessible via JSON output for machine readability:

Entity Description
Time Records Individual logs of work duration, including start/end timestamps and activity notes.
Projects High-level containers for organizing tasks and assigning users/clients.
Users Remote employees or contractors tracked within the system.
Clients External entities associated with specific projects for billing purposes.
Actions Metadata including inputSchema and outputSchema for programmatic execution.

Worksnaps Advanced Features

  • Natural Language Intent Discovery: Find the right API interaction by describing your goal instead of hunting through documentation.
  • Automated Credential Refresh: Never manage tokens manually; Membrane handles long-lived authentication on the server side.
  • Headless Environment Support: Complete authentication workflows in remote servers or CI/CD pipelines using code-based login.
  • Transparent Proxying: Access the full Worksnaps REST API with automatic base URL appending and secure header injection.
  • Long-polling Connection Management: Use the --wait flag to synchronize asynchronous connection building in automated scripts.
