What is X to Kindle?

X to Kindle is a specialized utility within the Openclaw Skills ecosystem designed to bridge the gap between social media consumption and long-form reading. It enables users to instantly push insightful tweets or technical threads directly to their Kindle devices, bypassing the infinite scroll and providing a focused, e-ink reading environment. By leveraging the fxtwitter API and SMTP protocols, it ensures high-quality content extraction and seamless delivery to your digital library.

X to Kindle Use Cases

  • Archiving long-form Twitter threads for offline research and study.
  • Reading technical deep-dives or industry insights without social media distractions.
  • Saving viral educational content for later consumption on an eye-friendly e-ink display.
  • Creating a permanent library of curated social media knowledge.

How X to Kindle Works

  1. The agent monitors for X/Twitter URLs shared by the user in the chat interface.
  2. It extracts the full tweet text, author metadata, and timestamps using the fxtwitter API.
  3. The raw content is programmatically converted into a clean, Kindle-optimized HTML format.
  4. The document is transmitted via SMTP to the user's registered Kindle email address.
  5. A confirmation is provided once the document is successfully queued in the Amazon Kindle cloud service.

X to Kindle Setup

To enable this within your Openclaw Skills environment, you must configure your SMTP and Kindle details in your TOOLS.md file:

## Kindle
- Address: [email protected]

## Email (Gmail SMTP)
- From: [email protected]
- App Password: xxxx xxxx xxxx xxxx
- Host: smtp.gmail.com
- Port: 587

Note: Ensure your 'From' email address is added to the Approved Personal Document E-mail List in your Amazon Kindle account settings.

X to Kindle Data Schema & Taxonomy

The skill organizes extracted social data using the following taxonomy:

Attribute Description Source
author_handle The @handle of the original poster fxtwitter API
tweet_text The core text and content of the post fxtwitter API
timestamp The original publication date/time fxtwitter API
original_url The source link for reference User Input

X to Kindle Advanced Features

  • Automatic thread detection to capture multi-post stories in a single document.
  • Integration with Openclaw Skills multi-agent workflows for automated archival of specific interest areas.
  • Support for custom SMTP providers beyond Gmail for enterprise-grade reliability.
  • Optimized HTML rendering specifically tailored for Kindle's personal document layout engine.
