Introduction
In today's video, we will explore an easy method to achieve simple animation effects in Stable Diffusion.
Method Inspiration
The method we will be using was inspired by a fellow YouTuber's tutorial. However, it has been adjusted to suit my preference, resulting in slight differences in the effect.
Clarification Regarding Introversify

The Method Without Extensions
The method we will be using does not require any extensions and can be generated within Stable Diffusion directly.
Understanding the Animation Effect
It is important to understand that the animation we will be creating is not as sophisticated as Deforum. Instead, it is a visual effect designed to enhance still images. This effect can be applied to various scenarios, such as game character dialogues or background images of music videos.
Suitable Scenarios for Animation
Before we dive into the process, I have prepared five images to demonstrate different scenarios suitable for animation. These images were produced in Midjourney, serving as by-products of my testing. I will explain the elements suitable for animation in each image.
Demonstration: Image 1 - Shaman King
To begin, spin up an instance of Stable Diffusion and navigate to the img2img section. Drag and drop the first image, an illustration of Shaman King, into the designated area. Mask the outer part of the flame, as it is a good candidate for animation.
Adjusting Parameters for Animation
After masking, proceed to adjust the parameters. Start by setting the batch count to at least 8, as we will need all 8 images to form the animation later on. It is recommended to use the uploaded image's Dimensions to avoid distortion. For the CFG Scale, slide it all the way up to 15 or higher.
Generating the Animation
Once the parameter adjustments are done, we can proceed to generate the animation in Stable Diffusion. Check the output folder for the generated images and preview them to ensure the animation looks good.
Creating a GIF from the Animation
To Create a GIF from the generated animation, we can use the free online service EzGIF. Select all the images and upload them. Adjust the delay time to the desired speed and set the loop count according to preference. Finally, click on the "Make a GIF" button to complete the process.
Demonstration: Image 2 - Studio Ghibli
Moving on to the Second image, which is in the style of Studio Ghibli. In this case, we want to Show the movement of wind through the clouds and grass. Horizontal flowy lines can be drawn to achieve this effect. Text prompts can also be added if desired.
Adding Text Prompts
While not essential, providing Relevant text prompts can further enhance the animated effect. In cases where the masked area is too large, specific text prompts may be necessary.
Verifying Parameters and Masking Area
Before generating the animation, it is crucial to verify that all the parameters and masking areas are correct. This step helps avoid any issues that might arise during the process.
Creating the Animation
With the correct parameters and masking area, we can proceed to create the animation using the same method as before.
Demonstration: Image 3 - Sparkling Eyes
For the third image, we will focus on animating only the character's eyes. This animation effect adds a lifelike touch to the character, making it more visually engaging. However, some frames might appear unnatural, and adjustments to the masking area may be necessary.
Naturalizing the Eye Animation
To make the eye animation appear more natural, reducing the masking area in future attempts can help achieve a more realistic look.
Demonstration: Image 4 - Starry Sky
In image number four, our goal is to create a twinkling starry sky effect. By masking random spots in the sky, we can achieve the desired animation. However, the default frame timing might need adjustment for a better result.
Adjusting Frame Timing for Starry Sky
To slow down the animation and make the twinkling effect more prominent, increasing the delay time for each frame, preferably to a value of 40, is recommended.
Demonstration: Image 5 - Floating Orbs
Lastly, for the fifth image, we will focus on animating the lights on floating orbs. After masking the desired areas, adjusting the timing on each frame will create a blinking effect, simulating lights being switched on and off.
Adjusting Frame Timing for Lighting Effect
To make the blinking effect appear more random and believable, adjusting the timing on each frame is crucial. It adds inconsistency to the animation, resembling real-life lighting changes.
