Developers utilizing the Google Gemini Veo model for programmatic video creation.

Overview

This powerful automation solution transforms a Google Sheets script into a series of individualized video snippets, eliminating manual processing steps. The core problem this n8n workflow solves is bridging structured data (scripts, avatar definitions, framing instructions) with complex AI video generation services (Google Veo/Gemini). By running this n8n workflow, users can process hundreds of script lines efficiently. Each line generates a custom video, which is automatically uploaded to Google Drive. Crucially, the final step uses a Google Sheets n8n node to write the direct link back into the sheet, creating a fully traceable and accessible asset catalog. This specific n8n workflow setup acts as a foundation for scalable AI content production.

How it Works

This n8n workflow starts with the manual "When clicking ‘Execute workflow’" n8n trigger.

  1. Setup & Definition: The flow first retrieves the global avatar description from a designated sheet ("Gaia") and then uses a Set n8n node ("Global Variables") to define the target script sheet (e.g., "Draft 5").

  2. Data Acquisition: The workflow uses a Google Sheets n8n node ("Get Script") to retrieve all rows from the target sheet. Each row contains the unique speech text, avatar framing instructions, and other metadata necessary for generation.

  3. Iteration: A Split In Batches n8n node ("Loop Over Items") initiates a processing loop, handling one script line (row) at a time.

  4. AI Generation: Inside the loop, the workflow uses a Set n8n node ("Set Loop Inputs") to structure the data for the AI prompt. This data is then fed into the Google Gemini Veo n8n node. This AI service generates an 8-second video snippet matching the provided description, framing, and speech.

  5. Storage: The resulting binary video file is immediately passed to the Google Drive n8n node ("Upload video file"), which uploads the video to a specified folder and generates a shareable link.

  6. Data Synchronization: Finally, a Google Sheets n8n node ("Update row in sheet with link to video") updates the original spreadsheet row, matching by row_number, inserting the newly generated video's webViewLink. This completes the automation cycle for that specific snippet before the n8n workflow moves to the next item.

Installation Guide

To use this n8n workflow template, follow these steps:

  1. Import: Copy the provided n8n workflow JSON code and import it into your n8n instance using the "Import Workflow" function.

  2. Credentials Setup: You will need to configure three sets of credentials required by the various n8n node types:

Google Sheets OAuth2 API: Required for reading the script and writing the video links.
Google Drive OAuth2 API: Required for the "Upload video file" n8n node.
Google Palm API (Gemini/Veo): Required for the "Generate a video with Veo" n8n node to authorize access to the AI model.

  1. Configuration:

Adjust the hardcoded page variable in the "Global Variables" n8n node if your main script sheet is not named "Draft 5".
Verify the documentId in all Google Sheets n8n nodes matches your source spreadsheet ID.
Update the folderId in the "Upload video file" n8n node to point to your desired Google Drive output folder.

  1. Execution: Once credentials and configurations are complete, execute the n8n trigger manually to start the video generation process.

Node Details

This n8n workflow relies on several core and specialized n8n node types:

When clicking ‘Execute workflow’ (n8n trigger):
Function: Manually starts the execution of the n8n workflow.
Get Avatar Description & Get Script (Google Sheets n8n node):
Function: Retrieves structured data from the spreadsheet. The second node pulls the bulk script data based on the dynamic sheet name set earlier.
Key Configuration: Uses documentId and dynamically targets the desired sheet name.
Loop Over Items (Split In Batches n8n node):
Function: Essential flow control that iterates through every line of the script, ensuring each row results in a dedicated video snippet.
Generate a video with Veo (Google Gemini n8n node):
Function: The primary AI engine. It sends a detailed prompt combining avatar description, framing, and speech text to the models/veo-3.0-fast-generate-001 model.
Key Configuration: resource: video, aspectRatio: 16:9, durationSeconds: 8, requesting binary file output.
Upload video file (Google Drive n8n node):
Function: Takes the binary video output from the Gemini n8n node and uploads it, naming the file dynamically using the row number.
Key Configuration: Specifies the target folderId.
Update row in sheet with link to video (Google Sheets n8n node):
Function: Writes the webViewLink received from the Google Drive n8n node back into the original sheet.
Key Configuration: operation: update, matches the target row using the row_number field.
