Overview

Maintaining a multilingual blog often requires significant manual effort, especially when managing translation and featured image uploads. This sophisticated n8n workflow entirely automates this process. The automation starts with an n8n trigger monitoring a source RSS feed. It uses a custom Code n8n node to extract critical data, such as the featured image URL, which is typically embedded in the content. The core logic relies on the OpenAI n8n node to translate both the article title and the full body content from English to Hindi using a predefined Assistant model. Finally, the n8n workflow uses the WordPress n8n node to create the post draft and several subsequent HTTP Request n8n node steps to upload the featured image and link it correctly to the newly created post. This reliable n8n workflow ensures instant, automated cross-language publishing.

How it Works

This n8n workflow executes a complex sequence of data retrieval, processing, translation, and publication:

  1. RSS Monitoring: The flow begins with the RSS Feed Trigger n8n node, which polls the configured URL every 10 minutes for new items.

  2. Data Extraction: The Code n8n node (Code1) uses a regular expression to search the content:encoded field of the RSS item and extract the URL for the featured image, storing it as a new variable.

  3. Content Translation: The raw content is passed to the 'Content English to Hindi' n8n node (an OpenAI integration) which uses a specified Assistant to translate the body text.

  4. Title Translation: Simultaneously, the original post title is sent to the 'Title convert' OpenAI n8n node for translation, leveraging the same underlying AI service.

  5. Post Creation: The core WordPress n8n node creates a new post draft using the translated title (output of 'Title convert') and the translated content (output of 'Content English to Hindi'). This step returns the new WordPress Post ID.

  6. Image URL Preparation: Using the Post ID from the previous step, the 'Set Image URL' n8n node takes the featured image URL extracted in Step 2.

  7. Image Retrieval: The 'GET Image' n8n node downloads the binary data of the featured image using the extracted URL.

  8. Image Upload: The 'Upload Image to Wordpress' HTTP Request n8n node handles the secure upload of the binary image data to the WordPress media library, utilizing the post ID for unique file naming. This returns the Media ID.

  9. Featured Image Assignment: The final 'Set Image on Wordpress Post' HTTP Request n8n node updates the post created in Step 5, linking the uploaded Media ID as the official featured image, completing the publication process for this advanced n8n workflow.

Installation Guide

To deploy this n8n templates solution, follow these steps:

  1. Import the JSON: Copy the provided n8n workflow JSON and import it directly into your n8n instance.

  2. Set Up Credentials:

OpenAI: You must configure an OpenAI credential for the Language Chain n8n node. Ensure the Assistant ID used in the 'Content English to Hindi' and 'Title convert' n8n node is correctly configured and accessible.
WordPress API: Configure a WordPress API credential with sufficient permissions to create posts and upload media. This credential is used by the WordPress n8n node and the HTTP Request n8n node steps.

  1. Configure RSS Feed: Update the URL in the RSS Feed Trigger n8n node to monitor your desired English source feed.

  2. Adjust WordPress Settings: Review the WordPress n8n node settings, specifically the authorId and categories, to match your target Hindi blog setup.

  3. Activate: Save the n8n workflow and set it to 'Active'.

Node Details

This n8n workflow utilizes several specialized n8n node types:

RSS Feed Trigger: The starting n8n trigger. It is configured to poll https://www.abc.com/uncategorized-hi/hindi-blog/feed/ every 10 minutes to detect new content.
Code1 (Code n8n node): Essential for data parsing. Uses JavaScript and regex to extract the featuredImage URL embedded within the content:encoded payload of the RSS item.
Content English to Hindi & Title convert (OpenAI Langchain n8n node): These nodes are key to the translation logic. They use the same OpenAI Assistant (asst_ydjGgj8Sax8qJgRgLh6XfBHB) named 'English to Hindi' to provide high-quality localized output.
Wordpress (n8n node): Creates the new post. Key configuration includes setting the status to draft and mapping the output from the two translation nodes to the Title and Content fields.
Set Image URL (Set n8n node): Used as a utility n8n node to properly route the extracted image URL to the separate image processing branch after the WordPress post ID has been generated.
Upload Image to Wordpress (HTTP Request n8n node): Handles the binary upload of the image file to the WordPress media library using the API endpoint /wp/v2/media and specialized Content-Disposition headers.
