Overview

Customer retention is critical for e-commerce success. This essential n8n workflow addresses potential churn by proactively identifying valuable but inactive customers in Shopify. This sophisticated n8n templates setup automatically extracts specific customer data, analyzes their last purchase, calculates the exact inactivity period, and seamlessly passes this filtered list to the Beex CRM platform via a specialized n8n node. By utilizing this detailed process, you ensure that marketing teams launch personalized re-engagement campaigns based on the customer's purchase history and inactivity status, all managed through a robust, scheduled n8n trigger.

How it Works

This powerful n8n workflow is initiated monthly by the Schedule Trigger n8n node.

  1. Data Retrieval: The workflow starts by executing an API Request to fetch the complete customer list from Shopify.

  2. Normalization: The Split Records n8n node converts the bulk list into individual customer items, making subsequent processing efficient.

  3. Filtering Existing Customers: The Filter Customers n8n node ensures that only accounts with a recorded lastorderid are processed, discarding new customers who haven't made a purchase yet.

  4. Order and Product Context: The workflow uses two separate Shopify n8n node steps (1. Shopify and 2. Shopify) to retrieve the last order's closure date (closedat) and the specific producttype from the last item purchased.

  5. Data Preparation: Customer details and order/product details are extracted using Set nodes and then unified using the Merge Data n8n node.

  6. Inactivity Calculation: The Calculate Days n8n node determines the precise duration (in days) elapsed between the last purchase and the current date.

  7. Inactivity Filter: The critical Filter by Days n8n node applies the business logic, passing only customers who have been inactive for more than 30 days.

  8. Lead Creation: Finally, the Create Lead n8n node, utilizing the Beex platform integration, registers the inactive customer, tagging them with relevant details like their last purchase date and product type, ready for targeted re-engagement campaigns.

Installation Guide

  1. Import the n8n workflow: Copy the provided JSON data and import it into your self-hosted n8n instance.

  2. Shopify Credentials: Set up or update the Shopify Access Token account credential used by the 1. Shopify and 2. Shopify n8n node components. This requires API permissions to read customers and orders.

  3. Beex Credentials: Configure the connection for the Create Lead n8n node. This typically requires a Bearer Token and specific configuration parameters (like codeclient, sequenceid, and portfolio_id) specific to your Beex setup.

  4. Adjust the Trigger: The Schedule Trigger is set to run monthly. Adjust this frequency in the n8n trigger settings if needed (e.g., weekly or daily).

  5. Adjust Inactivity Threshold: Review the Filter by Days n8n node and change the '30' days threshold if your definition of inactivity is different.

Node Details

Schedule Trigger: The initiating n8n trigger, configured to run every month, ensuring consistent monitoring of customer activity.
Split Records: This n8n node is crucial for handling bulk data, splitting the initial customer JSON array into consumable, single-item flows.
Filter Customers: A logic n8n node using a condition to check for the existence of lastorderid, filtering out non-purchasing users.
1. Shopify (Get Last Order): Retrieves order data necessary for extracting the closedat timestamp.
2. Shopify (Get Product): Retrieves product data based on the last purchased item ID to determine the producttype.
Calculate Days (DateTime): A mathematical n8n node that calculates the time difference in days between the last order date (closed_at) and the present moment.
Filter by Days: The decision-making n8n node, only allowing customers with an inactivity period (timeDifference.days) greater than 30.
Create Lead (Beex): The final integration n8n node. It meticulously maps extracted customer details (name, email, phone) and contextual data (product type, inactivity status) into the Beex platform for lead generation.
