Overview

This powerful n8n workflow solves the tedious problem of manually managing customer communication after a sale. By leveraging a Gumroad webhook as the primary n8n trigger, it immediately starts a drip campaign designed to deliver value and, crucially, ask for a testimonial at the optimal time (Day 7). All client and testimonial data is meticulously organized and stored in a Notion database. This comprehensive automation is a fantastic example of what you can achieve with robust n8n node chaining, turning manual follow-up into a reliable, automated system. Implementing this n8n workflow ensures no client is forgotten, maximizing the chances of successful social proof collection. Utilizing this n8n template can drastically improve customer retention and social proof generation.

How it Works

This n8n workflow operates in two main sequential flows and one error handler:

  1. Sale Nurture Flow: The sequence begins with the Gumroad Sale (Webhook) n8n trigger. The data is mapped using a Function n8n node, and the new client record is created in Notion via the Notion โ€” Create Client n8n node. An immediate delivery email is sent. The n8n workflow then enters a waiting phase (Wait โ€” 3 days), followed by a value-add tips email. After a further wait (Wait โ€” 7 days), a special Testimonial Link is built using a Function n8n node, and the final testimonial request email is sent.

  1. Testimonial Capture Flow: A separate Testimonial (Webhook) n8n trigger waits for a submission. This data is mapped, created as a new record in Notion by the Notion โ€” Create Testimonial n8n node, and an immediate notification email is sent to the owner, confirming the new social proof. A final n8n node responds to the webhook, confirming successful submission.

  1. Error Handling: Should any n8n node in the main n8n workflow fail, the dedicated On Error n8n trigger activates, sending an alert via the Email โ€” Error Alert n8n node, ensuring immediate technical attention.

Installation Guide

To utilize this advanced n8n templates workflow, follow these steps:

  1. Import: Copy the provided JSON into your n8n instance using the "New > Import from JSON" option.

  2. Credentials: Configure credentials for the Notion and Email Send n8n node types.

Notion: Connect your Notion integration, ensuring it has permission to write to your Client and Testimonial databases.
Email Send: Set up your preferred SMTP or email service credentials for the various email n8n node steps.

  1. Webhooks: Activate the Gumroad Sale (Webhook) n8n trigger and copy its URL. Paste this URL into your Gumroad product settings as the destination for successful sale pings. Do the same for the Testimonial (Webhook) n8n trigger, which will receive submissions from your external testimonial form.

  2. Function Node Setup: Customize the mapping logic within the Map Sale โ†’ Client and Build Testimonial Link Function n8n node instances to match your specific Notion database fields and link structure.

  3. Activation: Ensure the n8n workflow is set to 'Active' to start listening for the Gumroad n8n trigger.

Node Details

This automation relies on several key n8n node types:

Gumroad Sale (Webhook): Acts as the primary n8n trigger, initiating the client nurture flow instantly upon receiving a purchase confirmation webhook from Gumroad.
Notion โ€” Create Client / Notion โ€” Create Testimonial: These n8n nodes are essential for CRM, creating new pages in specified Notion databases. They rely on mapped data from the preceding Function n8n node steps.
Email โ€” Delivery (Immediate) / Email โ€” Tips (Day 3) / Email โ€” Testimonial Ask (Day 7): Standard n8n nodes for sending outbound emails, forming the core of the client nurture sequence, utilizing mapped customer email addresses.
Wait โ€” 3 days / Wait โ€” 7 days: Critical corelogicflow_control n8n nodes that introduce precise delays (3 days and 7 days, respectively), ensuring the email sequence is delivered chronologically and maximizes customer engagement before the testimonial ask.
Map Sale โ†’ Client (Function n8n node): Custom JavaScript code used to transform the raw data from the Gumroad n8n trigger into a clean format suitable for Notion database insertion, demonstrating the flexibility of n8n templates.
On Error (n8n trigger): A dedicated n8n trigger that ensures the n8n workflow owner is notified immediately if any operational failure occurs in the main flow via the subsequent Email n8n node.

  • Respond โ€” Thank You: An n8n node used to send a specific HTTP response back to the Testimonial submission system, confirming receipt and completion of that part of the n8n workflow.
