Who is this best for?

  • Marketing teams and PPC specialists needing rapid, data-driven creative insights.

  • E-commerce analysts looking to automate competitive research.

  • Users searching for practical n8n templates integrating web scraping and AI.

  • Developers requiring an advanced n8n workflow example utilizing asynchronous API polling (Bright Data) and multiple OpenAI functions.

Overview

Manual competitive analysis is slow and inefficient. This highly technical n8n workflow solves this by fully automating the process of acquiring and leveraging competitor intelligence. It starts with a simple n8n trigger (a web form submission) and chains together powerful services: Bright Data handles the complex web scraping of Amazon reviews, while OpenAI (via an n8n node) reads and synthesizes the data to identify key weaknesses. Finally, it uses DALL-E to generate visually engaging, pain-point-focused ad creatives, delivering the summary and image directly to your media buying team via Gmail. This end-to-end n8n automation template transforms raw review data into actionable marketing assets.

How it Works

This n8n workflow is initiated by an On form submission n8n trigger, where the user pastes the Amazon Product URL of the competitor.

  1. Scraping Initiation: The URL is immediately sent via an HTTP Request n8n node to Bright Data's API to initiate the review scraping process. This returns a snapshot_id for tracking.

  2. Polling Loop: The n8n workflow enters a critical asynchronous loop using a Wait n8n node (set for 1 minute) and a subsequent HTTP Request to poll the Bright Data API for the snapshot status.

  3. Status Check: An If n8n node checks if the job status is 'running'. If true, it loops back to the Wait n8n node. If false (data is ready), it proceeds.

  4. Data Retrieval & Storage: A final HTTP Request n8n node retrieves the complete scraped data. This data is then immediately archived and structured in a Google Sheets n8n node.

  5. AI Aggregation: An Aggregating all reviews n8n node compiles all individual review texts into a single, cohesive block for the LLM.

  6. Analysis: The Basic LLM Chain n8n node (using an OpenAI model) analyzes the aggregated reviews, summarizes the competitor's weakest points, and outputs the textual analysis.

  7. Creative Generation: The output from the analysis feeds into the OpenAI- Generating image n8n node, which uses a highly structured JSON prompt to generate a 1080x1080 pixel ad creative focusing on mitigating the identified pain points.

  8. Final Delivery: The Gmail n8n node sends the comprehensive analysis summary (text) and attaches the newly generated AI image (binary data) to the media buyers.

Installation Guide

To deploy this specific n8n workflow template, follow these steps:

  1. Import the n8n Workflow: Copy the provided JSON code and paste it directly into your n8n instance using the 'New' -> 'Import from JSON' feature.

  2. Bright Data Setup: You must obtain a Bright Data API Key. Update the 'Authorization' Bearer Token in both the 'HTTP Request- Post API call to Bright Data' n8n node and the 'Snapshot Progress' n8n node.

  3. OpenAI Credentials: Configure your OpenAI API Key credentials and ensure they are linked to the 'OpenAI Chat Model' and 'OpenAI- Generating image' n8n nodes.

  4. Google Sheets Setup: Create a copy of the provided Google Sheets template (URL provided in the sticky note). Update the Document ID in the 'Google Sheets - Adding All Reviews' n8n node and link your Google Sheets credential.

  5. Gmail Configuration: Update the recipient email in the 'Gmail - Sending creative to Media Buyers' n8n node. Link your Gmail OAuth2 credential.

  6. Activation: Set the 'On form submission' n8n trigger to Active and execute the first run by submitting the form URL.

Node Details

On form submission (n8n trigger): The starting point. It captures the Amazon Product URL input by the user, initiating the entire n8n automation.
HTTP Request- Post API call to Bright Data (n8n node): Triggers the scraping job on the Bright Data platform using the provided Amazon URL. Key configuration includes using the Bearer Authorization header and specifying the dataset ID.
Wait - Polling Bright Data (n8n node): Introduces a 1-minute delay, crucial for asynchronous job handling, preventing immediate overwhelming of the Bright Data API.
If - Checking status of Snapshot (n8n node): Manages the polling loop. It checks if the Bright Data job status equals 'running'. If true, the n8n workflow pauses and checks again.
HTTP Request - Getting data from Bright Data (n8n node): Executed only when the job is complete, retrieving the final scraped JSON data containing all reviews.
Google Sheets - Adding All Reviews (n8n node): Stores the raw scraped review data in a specified spreadsheet, acting as a crucial archival step in this n8n workflow.
Aggregating all reviews (n8n node): A utility n8n node that consolidates multiple review items into a single text payload required for efficient LLM processing.
Basic LLM Chain - Summary of Recent reviews (n8n node): Uses a sophisticated LangChain integration within n8n to apply an analytical prompt to the reviews, summarizing competitor weaknesses. This uses the gpt-4o-mini model.
OpenAI- Generating image (n8n node): Leverages OpenAI's image generation capabilities (DALL-E). Key configuration includes a structured JSON prompt defining image dimensions (1080x1080), style ('weird-and-fun'), and instructing it to focus on addressing pain points derived from the previous n8n node's output.
Gmail - Sending creative to Media Buyers (n8n node): The final action, sending an email with the text analysis and attaching the AI-generated ad image.
