n8n Nodes Used

Who is this best for?

  • DevOps engineers managing large n8n instances.

  • n8n Automation Specialists who require a full inventory of deployed n8n templates.

  • Administrators performing regular audits or cleanups of existing n8n workflows.

  • Power users needing a programmatic way to interact with the n8n Flow API.

Overview

Managing numerous automation tasks requires a clear inventory. This n8n workflow solves the problem of manually tracking every single flow by leveraging the built-in Flow n8n node. This specialized n8n node allows the n8n workflow to query the platform's internal API, returning detailed metadata (name, status, ID) for every deployed n8n workflow. This is invaluable for maintaining control, facilitating reporting, and ensuring the smooth operation of your entire n8n environment. It serves as a foundational administrative utility for any dedicated n8n user.

How it Works

The execution of this n8n workflow is straightforward. The process begins with the 'On clicking 'execute'' n8n trigger, which activates the entire process manually.

  1. Manual Start: The user initiates the n8n workflow execution through the editor or via an API call.

  2. Flow Retrieval: Control immediately passes to the 'Flow' n8n node.

  3. Operation Execution: The 'Flow' n8n node is configured specifically to perform the getAll operation. Crucially, the 'Return All' parameter is set to true, ensuring that the n8n workflow retrieves a complete, unfiltered list of all existing workflows, regardless of their status (active or inactive). The resulting output provides a snapshot of all deployed n8n templates.

Installation Guide

  1. Import: Copy the provided n8n workflow JSON data.

  2. Access n8n: Open your n8n instance and navigate to the Workflows section.

  3. New Workflow: Click 'New' and select 'Import from JSON'. Paste the n8n workflow JSON.

  4. Credential Setup: The 'Flow' n8n node interacts with the n8n API. While this node generally uses internal n8n credentials for flow management, if prompted, ensure your n8n instance has the necessary API access configured for the Flow credential set.

  5. Execution: Since this n8n workflow uses a manual n8n trigger, simply click 'Execute Workflow' or use the 'Test Workflow' button to run it and retrieve your list of flows.

Node Details

On clicking 'execute' (Manual Trigger):
Function: This is the starting n8n trigger point for the n8n workflow, allowing manual activation directly from the editor.
Key Configuration: Standard manual activation.
Flow (Flow n8n Node):
Function: This critical n8n node interacts with the administrative flow management API endpoint within n8n itself. It is designed to pull metadata about other n8n workflows.
Key Configuration:
Operation: getAll (Retrieves lists of flows).
Return All: true (Ensures that all available flows are returned, maximizing the utility of this n8n workflow).
