Who is this best for?

  • Marketing managers needing to streamline content distribution.

  • Content creators managing multiple social media accounts (Instagram, Threads, TikTok).

  • Users seeking pre-built n8n templates for complex scheduling tasks.

  • Developers interested in connecting cloud storage and specialized marketing APIs using n8n.

Overview

This n8n workflow provides a comprehensive, hands-off approach to cross-platform content publishing. It solves the manual overhead associated with logging into various social platforms or scheduling tools to upload media and set publication times. By leveraging the specific PostPulse n8n node, combined with Google Sheets for metadata and Google Drive for media storage, users can centralize their content preparation. This powerful n8n workflow template automatically retrieves account IDs, downloads the media file, uploads it to PostPulse, and then schedules the post across all specified channels. This automation is a perfect example of advanced use of core n8n nodes combined with third-party platform integration.

How it Works

The process begins with the manual 'When clicking Execute workflow' n8n trigger. The n8n workflow immediately branches into two parallel paths.

  1. Data Retrieval: One path uses the PostPulse n8n node to fetch a list of all connected social media account IDs available for publishing. The second path uses the Google Sheets n8n node to retrieve row data, which includes the necessary metadata and the Google Drive file ID for the content.

  1. Media Processing: Using the file ID obtained from Google Sheets, the Google Drive n8n node downloads the media file. This binary data is immediately sent to the PostPulse 'Upload media' n8n node, which uploads the file and generates a unique media path reference.

  1. Consolidation: An n8n Merge node combines the data stream containing the list of social account IDs (from PostPulse) and the stream containing the media path reference (from the upload step).

  1. Scheduling: The final PostPulse 'Schedule a post' n8n node executes the core task. It utilizes the merged account IDs and the media path to create and schedule the post. The current configuration schedules a post to THREADS with defined content and a future time, marking it as a draft for final review. This completes the sophisticated n8n workflow.

Installation Guide

To set up this n8n workflow template, follow these steps:

  1. Import the n8n Workflow: Copy the provided JSON and import it into your n8n instance via the 'New' menu > 'Import from JSON'.

  2. Set up Google Drive Credentials: You must establish a Google Drive OAuth2 API credential. Ensure this credential has access to the folder containing your media files.

  3. Set up Google Sheets Credentials: Configure a Google Sheets OAuth2 API credential. This credential must have read access to the spreadsheet used for content metadata.

  4. Set up PostPulse Credentials: Configure the PostPulse OAuth2 API credential. This is critical for connecting and publishing to your social accounts.

  5. Customize Nodes:

- In the 'Get row(s) in sheet' n8n node, verify the Document ID and Sheet Name match your content sheet.
- In the 'Download file' n8n node, update the hardcoded File ID with a dynamic expression linking to the data fetched from Google Sheets.
- In the 'Schedule a post' n8n node, customize the content, scheduledTime, and platformSettings to match your intended publication strategy.

Node Details

When clicking ‘Execute workflow’ (n8n trigger): Initiates the entire n8n workflow when manually run, starting the collection of data and account IDs.
Get row(s) in sheet (Google Sheets n8n node): Reads the required scheduling metadata, such as captions and the Google Drive file ID, from the designated sheet (n8n test).
Get connected accounts (PostPulse n8n node): Retrieves all platform accounts (e.g., Instagram, Threads) connected via PostPulse, providing the necessary socialMediaAccountId required by the scheduling n8n node.
Download file (Google Drive n8n node): Fetches the media file using a predefined file ID (1pR8QjM...) for immediate processing within the n8n workflow.
Upload media (PostPulse n8n node): Uploads the binary media file received from Google Drive to the PostPulse staging environment, returning a unique path (={{ $json.path }}) that references the uploaded content.
Merge (n8n node): Combines the account IDs (Input 0) and the uploaded media reference path (Input 1), structuring the data payload required for the final scheduling action.

  • Schedule a post (PostPulse n8n node): The final n8n node. It schedules the post as a draft (isDraft: true) for a future date, applying the combined media path and routing the content specifically for the THREADS platform, using the account ID derived from the merged data.
