n8n Nodes Used

Who is this best for?

Project Managers needing automated task creation and updating.
Developers looking to integrate Taiga operations into CI/CD pipelines.
Users learning how to chain Taiga operations within a single n8n workflow.
Automation specialists seeking proven n8n templates for project management.

Overview

Managing issues in project tracking software often requires sequential steps: creation, modification, and verification. This specific n8n workflow template provides a robust demonstration of these fundamental capabilities using the dedicated Taiga n8n node.

By chaining multiple Taiga n8n node instances, you can ensure that issues are correctly logged, necessary descriptive details are added, and the final state of the ticket is retrieved for verification or logging in subsequent steps. This n8n workflow is ideal for integrating Taiga with external systems or automating complex ticketing procedures.

How it Works

This automation follows a linear, three-step process initiated by an n8n trigger:

  1. Start and Create: The n8n workflow begins execution via the 'On clicking 'execute'' manual n8n trigger. The first Taiga n8n node immediately runs, creating a new issue in the specified project (385605) with the subject 'n8n-docs'. This step is crucial as it generates the unique ID required for subsequent operations.

  2. Dynamic Update: The output of the initial Taiga n8n node (specifically the new issue ID and Project ID) is passed to the next Taiga n8n node instance. This instance is configured for the 'update' operation and uses n8n's expression feature (={{$node["Taiga"].json["id"]}}) to target the recently created issue. It updates the issue by adding a detailed description.

  3. Retrieve for Verification: The final step uses a third Taiga n8n node configured for the 'get' operation. It again leverages the dynamic issue ID from the first n8n node to fetch the complete, updated issue details. This confirms that both the creation and update operations were successful within this powerful n8n workflow.

Installation Guide

To deploy this n8n template successfully, follow these steps:

  1. Import the n8n Workflow: Copy the provided JSON code and import it directly into your n8n instance via the 'New' menu -> 'Import from JSON'.

  2. Set up Taiga Credentials: The n8n workflow requires credentials for the Taiga n8n node. Navigate to 'Settings' -> 'Credentials', search for 'Taiga API', and configure your Taiga connection (usually requiring a username and password, or an authentication token).

  3. Update Project ID: In the first Taiga n8n node ('Taiga'), you must change the Project ID (currently set to 385605) to a valid project ID within your own Taiga instance where you wish to create issues.

  4. Execute: Once credentials are set and the project ID is updated, activate the n8n workflow and click 'Execute Workflow' (or 'Test Workflow') to see the automated creation, update, and retrieval cycle run instantly.

Node Details

On clicking 'execute' (Manual Trigger n8n Trigger):
Function: Serves as the starting point for testing this n8n workflow. In a production environment, this would typically be replaced by a scheduled n8n trigger or webhook.
Key Configuration: None (simple execution trigger).

Taiga (Create Issue n8n node):
Function: Initiates the process by creating the initial issue in Taiga.
Key Configuration: Operation: Create, Subject: n8n-docs, ProjectId: 385605 (must be updated).

Taiga1 (Update Issue n8n node):
Function: Modifies the issue created in the previous step.
Key Configuration: Operation: Update, Issue ID and Project ID are dynamically sourced using expressions referencing the output of the preceding Taiga n8n node. The Description field is updated.

Taiga2 (Get Issue n8n node):
Function: Fetches the complete, updated data for the issue, verifying the prior operations.
Key Configuration: Operation: Get, Issue ID is dynamically sourced from the initial Taiga n8n node output.
