Manually transferring data from Typeform submissions into a master spreadsheet can be time-consuming and prone to errors. This powerful n8n workflow solves this problem by creating a continuous, automated pipeline. When a user submits a Typeform, the n8n trigger instantly starts the process. The workflow first retrieves the existing master spreadsheet from NextCloud, merges the new submission data, and then securely overwrites the file on the cloud storage. This specific use case demonstrates the flexibility of combining different cloud services using standard n8n node types for efficient data aggregation, making this one of the most useful n8n templates for data management.

This automation sequence executes three main processes concurrently before merging and finalizing the update:

1. Trigger & Data Capture: The process begins with the Typeform n8n trigger, which activates upon a new submission. This provides the new record data to the flow.


2. File Retrieval: Simultaneously, the NextCloud n8n node downloads the target spreadsheet file (examples/Problems.xls). This file is then processed by a Spreadsheet File n8n node, converting the binary spreadsheet structure into accessible JSON data.


3. Data Merge: The Merge n8n node combines the list of existing records (from the downloaded spreadsheet) with the new record(s) provided by the Typeform trigger.


4. File Reconversion: The combined data is routed to a second Spreadsheet File n8n node, configured to perform the toFile operation, which converts the merged JSON array back into a binary spreadsheet format, ready for upload.


5. Update NextCloud: Finally, the last NextCloud n8n node uses the input path variable (inherited from the original download step) to upload and overwrite the updated spreadsheet file, completing the continuous data logging process. This seamless n8n workflow ensures your master spreadsheet is always up-to-date.

To deploy this n8n workflow successfully, follow these steps:

1. Import the JSON: Copy the provided JSON data and paste it into your n8n instance using the 'Import Workflow' function.


2. Configure Credentials: You will need two sets of credentials:

1. Set the Typeform Trigger: In the 'Typeform Trigger' n8n node, select the specific Form ID you wish to monitor. Activate the webhook connection.


2. Set the File Path: In the first 'NextCloud' n8n node, ensure the Path parameter (examples/Problems.xls) points to the exact spreadsheet file location within your NextCloud instance.


3. Activate: Once configured, save and activate the n8n workflow. The n8n trigger will now listen for submissions.

Typeform Trigger: The starting n8n trigger. It listens for new form submissions from a specified Typeform ID, providing the new data as structured items to the rest of the workflow.
NextCloud (Download): This NextCloud n8n node downloads the specified existing spreadsheet file (configured path: examples/Problems.xls) in binary format.
Spreadsheet File: Reads the binary data from the downloaded spreadsheet and converts the contents into a collection of JSON items, making the existing data readable for the merge process.
Merge: A core logic n8n node that performs a union operation, combining the list of existing spreadsheet records (Input 0) with the new Typeform submission data (Input 1).
Spreadsheet File1: Takes the complete, merged JSON dataset and uses the toFile operation to convert it back into a new spreadsheet file (binary data).
NextCloud1 (Upload): This NextCloud n8n node uploads the newly created binary file. Key configuration uses an expression (={{$node["NextCloud"].parameter["path"]}}) to dynamically ensure the file is uploaded back to the original source path, overwriting the previous version.
