Overview

Managing and reporting on high-volume cold email campaigns can be time-consuming. This specialized n8n workflow solves the tedious manual process of data extraction, analysis, and document creation. By leveraging the power of an n8n trigger (Schedule Trigger) and advanced AI capabilities (GPT-4), it automatically pulls completed campaign data from ManyReach, runs a detailed analysis including benchmark comparisons and actionable recommendations, and converts the resulting analysis into a polished Google Document. Finally, it uses a Slack n8n node to notify the relevant team instantly. This powerful n8n workflow ensures consistent, insightful reporting without manual effort, making it one of the most valuable n8n templates for sales development teams.

How it Works

Markdown-formatted text.

  1. Scheduled Start: The automation is initiated by a weekly Schedule n8n trigger (usually Monday morning).

  2. Data Retrieval: The workflow fetches all campaign data from ManyReach using an HTTP Request n8n node.

  3. Filtering & Looping: Data is filtered to only include campaigns marked as 'Active' and 'Completed.' A Split In Batches n8n node then ensures that each qualifying campaign is processed individually in a loop.

  4. AI Analysis (GPT-4): The Campaign Report Agent n8n node sends the detailed campaign metrics (opens, replies, conversions) to GPT-4 (via the OpenAI n8n node configuration). GPT-4 acts as an expert analyst, generating a comprehensive report in Markdown format, complete with an executive summary, metric analysis against benchmarks, and concrete recommendations.

  5. Document Preparation: The AI-generated Markdown is converted to HTML. A subsequent Code n8n node (HTML -> Magic 🪄) takes this HTML and custom-formats it into a multipart/related request body, which is the necessary format for creating a native Google Doc via API.

  6. Google Doc Creation: An HTTP Request n8n node (Upload Doc) sends the multipart request to Google Drive, uploading the content and creating a shareable Google Document.

  7. Team Notification: The final n8n node in the flow, the Slack n8n node, sends a notification containing the campaign name and the direct link to the newly created Google Document to the designated Slack channel.

Installation Guide

This n8n template requires several credentials to function correctly.

  1. Import the n8n workflow: Copy the provided JSON and import it into your n8n instance.

  2. ManyReach Credentials: Set up HTTP Query Auth credentials for ManyReach.

  3. OpenAI Credentials: Configure API Key credentials for the OpenAI n8n node (or LangChain nodes).

  4. Google Drive Credentials: Set up OAuth2 credentials for Google Drive. Ensure the credential scope allows file upload and creation.

  5. Slack Credentials: Set up OAuth2 credentials for the Slack n8n node.

  6. Configuration Check: Open the Set Details n8n node and paste the drivefolderid for your destination Google Drive folder.

  7. Slack Channel Selection: Open the Send a Doc Link n8n node and select the specific Slack channel where the reports should be delivered. Ensure the n8n trigger is set to 'Active' before saving and running your new n8n workflow.

Node Details

Schedule Trigger (n8n trigger):
Function: Starts the n8n workflow on a defined schedule.
Key Configuration: Set to run once a week.
Fetch All Campaign (HTTP Request n8n node):
Function: Communicates with the ManyReach API to retrieve a list of all existing campaigns.
Key Configuration: Uses ManyReach HTTP Query Authentication; sets a limit query parameter to 100.
Filter Active & Completed Campaign (Filter n8n node):
Function: Ensures only campaigns that are currently active and have a campStatus of completed are processed.
Fetch One Campaign (HTTP Request n8n node):
Function: Retrieves the specific, detailed metrics for the campaign currently being looped over.
Key Configuration: URL expression uses ={{ $json.campaignID }} to dynamically fetch data.
Campaign Report Agent (LangChain Agent n8n node):
Function: The central intelligence of this n8n workflow. It feeds the raw campaign data into GPT-4 with an elaborate system prompt to generate a highly structured performance analysis report in Markdown format.
Key Configuration: System message defines the structure (Executive Summary, Performance Metrics Analysis, Actionable Recommendations) and includes benchmark data for comparison.
HTML -> Magic 🪄 (Code n8n node):
Function: Custom script that converts the basic HTML output from the Markdown conversion into the complex multipart/related format required by the Google Drive API for creating documents from HTML content. This custom n8n node is essential for correct document generation.
Upload Doc (HTTP Request n8n node):
Function: Uses the Google Drive OAuth2 credential to execute the API call that uploads the custom multipart body, resulting in a new Google Document file.
Send a Doc Link (Slack n8n node):
Function: Sends a confirmation message and the direct link to the newly created report in the designated team channel, completing the automated n8n workflow cycle.
