What is A2A Manager?

The A2A Manager is a robust system designed for AI coordinators and orchestrators to streamline complex multi-agent environments. As a core component within the Openclaw Skills ecosystem, it provides the necessary infrastructure to create new agents, manage Discord categories and channels, and bind specific agents to their designated workspaces.

This skill ensures seamless communication between permanent core agents and temporary sub-agents, allowing for sophisticated task distribution and quality assurance. By leveraging these Openclaw Skills, developers can build scalable agentic workflows that integrate directly with existing tools like Notion and Discord for real-time project management.

A2A Manager Use Cases

  • Coordinating complex multi-step projects across different specialized AI personas.
  • Spawning temporary specialist agents for targeted coding, research, or runner tasks.
  • Automating the organization of Discord workspaces for multi-agent collaborations.
  • Synchronizing agent task progress with Notion databases for transparent project tracking.
  • Maintaining a dynamic map of all active agents and their operational statuses.

How A2A Manager Works

  1. The system receives a request which is processed by a Coordinator agent to classify it as a simple Q&A or a structured Task.
  2. For structured tasks, the A2A Manager initializes a new entry in the Notion Task Board to track lifecycle states.
  3. The manager identifies the required expertise and can spawn temporary Specialist agents (e.g., Coder or Researcher) using specific LLM models.
  4. The task moves through defined states such as NOW, IN_PROGRESS, and REVIEW based on agent activity.
  5. A dedicated QA agent verifies the quality of the output before the task is marked as DONE.
  6. Upon completion, temporary specialists are disposed of, and the A2A_MAP is updated to reflect the current state of the workspace.

A2A Manager Setup

To begin using these Openclaw Skills, configure your environment with the following commands:

# Initialize the Notion task board database
python task_board.py setup <database_id>

# Create the initial A2A map for your workspace
python a2a_map.py init

# Validate the current agent configuration
python a2a_map.py validate

A2A Manager Data Schema & Taxonomy

The skill manages data across several interfaces to maintain operational consistency:

Component Data Managed Format/Tool
Agent Registry Metadata for permanent and temporary agents A2A_MAP.md
Task Tracking Workflow status, descriptions, and assignees Notion Database
Workspace Categories, channels, and role permissions Discord API
Specialist Mgmt Temporary worker IDs and lifecycle status CLI Scripts

A2A Manager Advanced Features

  • Automated spawning and disposal of sub-agents to optimize token usage and focus.
  • Versioning and rollback capabilities for the A2A_MAP to ensure coordination stability.
  • Dynamic binding of agents to specific Discord channels for isolated execution environments.
  • Support for multiple LLM models (Flash, Pro, GLM4) tailored to specific specialist roles.
  • Native integration with Notion for human-in-the-loop oversight of autonomous agent tasks.
