What is Aleph Cloud Self-Deployment?

This skill empowers an AI agent to manage its own infrastructure lifecycle on Aleph Cloud. By leveraging the aleph-client CLI, agents can independently provision virtual machines, install the OpenClaw framework, and configure secure runtime environments. This capability is essential for creating resilient, decentralized Openclaw Skills that can scale without human intervention.

The skill provides a complete blueprint for autonomous operations, handling everything from SSH key management and CRN selection to payment processing via decentralized credits or tokens. It transforms a standard agent into a self-hosting entity capable of managing its own compute resources.

Aleph Cloud Self-Deployment Use Cases

  • Scaling AI agent networks across decentralized compute resources automatically.
  • Automated disaster recovery where agents redeploy themselves to new nodes if a host fails.
  • Creating self-replicating agent swarms for distributed task processing and parallel execution.
  • Deploying private, sovereign AI instances on decentralized infrastructure to ensure data privacy.
  • Managing cost-effective compute by programmatically selecting tiers for Openclaw Skills.

How Aleph Cloud Self-Deployment Works

  1. The agent identifies available Compute Resource Nodes (CRNs) on the Aleph network with high performance scores.
  2. It provisions a new VM instance using specified rootfs images and compute tiers based on workload requirements.
  3. The agent establishes a secure SSH connection to the new instance once it becomes operational.
  4. It installs the necessary runtimes, including Node.js 22 and the core OpenClaw framework.
  5. Identity files, memory context, and specialized Openclaw Skills are transferred from the parent to the new node.
  6. The agent initializes the gateway, configures API authentication, and verifies full operational status autonomously.

Aleph Cloud Self-Deployment Setup

To enable self-deployment, the parent agent must have the following tools configured:

pip install aleph-client --break-system-packages
aleph account create --chain BASE --active
ssh-keygen -t ed25519 -f ~/.ssh/aleph_agent -N "" -C "agent@aleph"

Ensure you have funded your account with credits or $ALEPH tokens via the Aleph account portal before attempting deployment of new Openclaw Skills.

Aleph Cloud Self-Deployment Data Schema & Taxonomy

The skill organizes its operational data and configurations using the following structure:

File Path Description
~/.openclaw/openclaw.json Main configuration for the agent, model selection, and gateway settings.
~/.openclaw/agents/main/agent/auth-profiles.json Secure storage for provider credentials and API tokens.
/root/openclaw/skills/ Directory containing cloned or transferred Openclaw Skills.
~/.aleph-im/private-keys/ Secure storage for decentralized account keys used for provisioning.
~/.ssh/aleph_agent SSH private key for managing spawned instances.

Aleph Cloud Self-Deployment Advanced Features

  • Recursive self-deployment capability allowing child agents to spawn further instances autonomously.
  • Automated CRN scoring and selection for optimal performance and latency.
  • Integrated gateway token management with secure systemd service synchronization.
  • Peer-to-peer knowledge and soul transfer between parent and child agents to maintain context.
  • Support for non-interactive TUI bypass via pexpect automation for seamless CLI integration within Openclaw Skills.
