What is Capacities?

The Capacities skill empowers users to bridge their AI agent's capabilities with their personal knowledge management system. By utilizing Openclaw Skills, developers and researchers can programmatically interact with their Capacities spaces, ensuring that every thought, task, or web resource is captured instantly into their digital second brain without manual overhead.

This tool leverages the official Capacities API to provide a robust interface for handling structured information. Whether you are building a research pipeline or a personal productivity assistant, this skill ensures your data remains centralized and accessible within the Capacities ecosystem.

Capacities Use Cases

  • Capturing spontaneous thoughts or tasks directly into your daily note feed.
  • Automating the collection of web links and research materials during browsing sessions.
  • Programmatically searching for existing knowledge objects and retrieving their unique IDs.
  • Syncing data from other automated workflows into a structured PKM environment.

How Capacities Works

  1. The skill authenticates with the Capacities API using a secure bearer token.
  2. It identifies the target space, either through a specific ID or by selecting the first available space.
  3. Based on the command, it sends structured JSON payloads to the appropriate Capacities endpoint (e.g., /save-to-daily-note).
  4. The API processes the request, creating or updating objects within your Capacities second brain and returning confirmation or requested data.

Capacities Setup

To use this in your environment, you need to configure your environment variables. Obtain your token from Settings > Capacities API in the desktop app.

export CAPACITIES_API_TOKEN="your_api_token_here"
# Optional: Specify a space ID
export CAPACITIES_SPACE_ID="your_space_id_here"

You can then test the connection using Openclaw Skills by fetching your space info:

curl -X GET "https://api.capacities.io/space-info?spaceid=$CAPACITIES_SPACE_ID" -H "Authorization: Bearer $CAPACITIES_API_TOKEN"

Capacities Data Schema & Taxonomy

The skill interacts with the Capacities data model using specific JSON structures for different object types:

Feature Input Field Description
Daily Notes mdText Markdown formatted text to be appended to the daily entry.
Web Links url A valid URL to be saved as a web link object.
Search searchTerm String used to lookup existing objects and IDs.
Space Info spaceId The unique identifier for the specific workspace being accessed.

Capacities Advanced Features

  • Full Markdown support for daily note entries allowing for rich text formatting.
  • Automatic space discovery if a specific Space ID is not provided.
  • Deep integration with Openclaw Skills for multi-agent knowledge retrieval and synchronization.
  • Ability to retrieve complete space schemas, including all custom object types and structures.
