What is ClawTeam?

ClawTeam is a specialized coordination layer designed to transform single AI instances into a synchronized multi-agent swarm. By leveraging git worktree isolation, tmux windowing, and a robust filesystem-based messaging protocol, it allows developers to launch complex team structures that work in parallel on shared repositories without merge conflicts.

Built as a core component for Openclaw Skills, ClawTeam provides a structured environment where agents can communicate, report progress via Kanban boards, and manage tasks through a strictly defined lifecycle. It excels in scenarios requiring high-throughput development, such as automated code reviews, financial analysis swarms, or collaborative research paper generation.

ClawTeam Use Cases

  • Creating self-organizing agent teams to build complex web applications from scratch.
  • Running parallelized code reviews across large-scale repositories using git worktree isolation.
  • Coordinating a hedge-fund analysis swarm where multiple agents track different market sectors.
  • Managing complex research projects by breaking them into dependent tasks for specialized agents.
  • Orchestrating multi-agent workflows via remote channels like Feishu or Telegram with interactive approval cards.

How ClawTeam Works

  1. Team Initialization: A leader agent creates a team environment and defines the overarching goal using the CLI.
  2. Task Decomposition: The goal is broken down into granular tasks with defined owners and optional blocking dependencies.
  3. Agent Spawning: Individual worker agents are launched, each receiving a dedicated tmux window and a unique git branch via worktrees.
  4. Execution & Messaging: Agents execute their assigned tasks while communicating status updates and sharing data through point-to-point or broadcast messaging.
  5. Monitoring: The leader or human operator monitors progress via a terminal-based Kanban board or a web dashboard.
  6. Convergence: Upon task completion, the leader merges agent branches and generates a final report including cost and performance metrics.

ClawTeam Setup

ClawTeam requires the clawteam binary to be pre-installed in your system path. You can install it from the official repository and verify the installation with the following commands:

# Install the ClawTeam CLI
pipx install "git+https://github.com/win4r/ClawTeam-OpenClaw.git"

# Verify the installation
which clawteam
clawteam --version

# Run a health check to ensure the environment is ready
clawteam config health

ClawTeam Data Schema & Taxonomy

ClawTeam maintains a strict organizational structure within the ~/.clawteam/ directory to ensure data integrity across parallel Openclaw Skills operations:

Data Type Storage Location Format
Team Config ~/.clawteam/teams/<team>/config.json JSON
Task Metadata ~/.clawteam/tasks/<team>/task-<id>.json JSON (with fcntl locking)
Agent Messaging ~/.clawteam/teams/<team>/inboxes/<agent>/ JSON Messages
Team Plans ~/.clawteam/plans/<team>/ Markdown
Cost Tracking ~/.clawteam/costs/<team>/ Usage Logs
Workspaces Designated repository paths Git Worktree Branches

ClawTeam Advanced Features

  • Git Worktree Isolation: Ensures every agent works on a dedicated branch to prevent local file contention.
  • Channel-Aware Approvals: Native support for interactive approval cards in Feishu and Telegram for remote human-in-the-loop oversight.
  • Dependency Auto-Resolution: Tasks automatically transition from blocked to pending status as their prerequisites are satisfied.
  • Pre-built Templates: Instant deployment of specialized teams like hedge-fund, code-review, and research-paper.
  • Web Dashboard: A real-time web interface to monitor swarm progress and task statistics outside the terminal.
