What is Pumble?

Pumble is a robust team collaboration platform designed to streamline internal communications and project management. By leveraging this integration within Openclaw Skills, developers can empower AI agents to interact directly with Pumble workspaces, allowing for automated messaging, channel organization, and user management.

The skill utilizes the Membrane framework to handle complex authentication and credential refreshing automatically. This ensures that your Openclaw Skills stay focused on the integration logic and user value rather than managing OAuth flows or API keys, providing a secure and scalable way to build communication workflows.

Pumble Use Cases

  • Automating daily standups or status updates within specific Pumble channels.
  • Creating AI-driven bots that respond to direct messages or user inquiries.
  • Syncing project management milestones from external tools directly into team workspaces.
  • Managing user access and channel organization programmatically during onboarding.
  • Archiving and retrieving message history for automated reporting and data analysis.

How Pumble Works

  1. The AI agent initiates a connection to a Pumble workspace using the Membrane CLI.
  2. Membrane handles the OAuth handshake or API credentialing, providing a persistent connection ID.
  3. The agent searches for specific Pumble actions (like send_message or create_channel) using natural language intent.
  4. Actions are executed via the CLI, with Membrane managing the underlying API requests and data mapping.
  5. For custom needs, the agent can perform proxy requests where Membrane automatically injects headers and handles token refreshes.

Pumble Setup

First, install the Membrane CLI globally to enable Openclaw Skills to communicate with the Pumble API:

npm install -g @membranehq/cli@latest

Authenticate your agent by logging into the tenant (replace <agentType> with openclaw):

membrane login --tenant --clientName=openclaw

Create a connection to your Pumble workspace:

membrane connection ensure "https://pumble.com/" --json

Pumble Data Schema & Taxonomy

The Pumble skill organizes data according to the workspace hierarchy. The following table outlines the primary metadata taxonomy:

Entity Description
Workspace The top-level container for all team data and configurations.
Channel Specific rooms for grouped discussions; contains message arrays.
User Individual profile data and identity within the workspace.
Message Content packets including text, timestamps, and sender metadata.
Direct Message Private communication threads between specific users.

Pumble Advanced Features

  • Natural Language Action Discovery: Search for capabilities using human-like queries rather than strict endpoint documentation.
  • Automatic Credential Lifecycle: Membrane manages token expiration and refreshing silently in the background.
  • Transparent Proxying: Send raw requests to the Pumble API while Membrane handles base URLs and security headers.
  • Long-polling Connection States: Use the --wait flag to handle asynchronous connection building in headless environments.
  • JSON-Ready Output: All commands support a --json flag for seamless integration into automated data pipelines.
