What is Content Pillars?

Content Pillars provides a structured workflow for AI agents to translate raw brand positioning into 3 to 5 recurring strategic content themes. By bridging the gap between high-level brand strategy and weekly content planning, this tool prevents generic, uncoordinated posts and establishes a cohesive content architecture.

Rather than relying on vague categories like educational or behind-the-scenes content, Content Pillars enforces distinct, subject-focused themes that a brand can authentically own. It evaluates candidate themes against specific criteria to ensure every pillar directly aligns with audience needs, brand credibility, and business goals, establishing a reliable foundation for downstream automation tools like Openclaw Skills.

Content Pillars Use Cases

  • Establishing a core content strategy immediately after generating a brand profile.
  • Resolving content planning blocks when a feed lacks direction or feels disconnected.
  • Supplying actionable content themes to batch planning tools like Openclaw Skills.
  • Refining vague, format-based categories into strategically aligned, ownable subject areas.

How Content Pillars Works

  1. Reads foundational inputs from brand-profile.md and voice.md to understand core positioning, audience, and point of view.
  2. Mines the strategy documents to generate 8 to 12 raw candidate subject themes based on credibility, audience pains, and brand story.
  3. Evaluates each candidate theme using a four-part pillar test: Ownable, Relevant, Strategic, and Sustainable.
  4. Selects 3 to 5 high-performing themes and detailed sub-topics, ensuring the presence of exactly one signature differentiator pillar.
  5. Generates the structured content-pillars.md file for integration into downstream content planning workflows.

Content Pillars Setup

Install the skill into your AI agent environment and ensure foundational brand data is configured.

# Initialize the foundational brand profile (required first)
openclaw run brand-profile

# Run the content pillars skill
openclaw run content-pillars

Content Pillars Data Schema & Taxonomy

The skill produces a structured content-pillars.md artifact based on the following taxonomy:

Section Description
Signature Pillar The single primary theme defining the brand's unique point of view and market differentiation.
Supporting Pillars 2 to 3 core subject themes addressing audience pain points, proof of expertise, or brand story.
Conversion Pillar At most 1 conversion-linked theme to soft-sell products or services through strategic value.
Pillar Metadata Detailed attributes per pillar, including target audience, primary goal, assets, and 5–8 example angles.

Content Pillars Advanced Features

  • Enforces strict separation between content themes (subjects) and content intents or formats.
  • Implements multi-audience tracking to map specific pillars to distinct buyer personas or stakeholders.
  • Integrates directly with downstream execution tools within Openclaw Skills, such as batch planners and script writers.
  • Performs automatic self-check quality validations to prevent over-indexing on promotional content.
