What is Cue Litigation Drafting Assistant?

Cue Litigation Drafting Assistant connects an AI agent to Cue’s litigation-drafting playbook to produce tailored first drafts of complaints, defense statements, appeal briefs, evidence objections, lawyer letters, evidence lists, and related documents. Rather than forcing case facts into a generic template, it organizes the arguments around the matter and can associate claims and rebuttals with relevant statutes and publicly available similar-case references.

The skill runs through Cue services and can accept case details or uploaded opposing-party materials as input. It returns an editable Markdown report and can offer conversion to Word (DOCX). These Openclaw Skills support drafting assistance, not final legal advice: a qualified lawyer must verify the facts, authorities, and citations and review every draft before use.

Cue Litigation Drafting Assistant Use Cases

  • Draft a Chinese civil complaint or appeal brief from case facts, requested relief, and the client’s position.
  • Prepare a defense statement that responds to an opposing party’s claims, such as limitation-period or excessive liquidated-damages arguments.
  • Review an opposing party’s complaint or evidence list and prepare targeted rebuttals or evidence objections, including analysis of authenticity and relevance.
  • Create a lawyer’s demand letter for overdue payments or other disputes.
  • Organize case materials into an evidence catalog grouped by purpose of proof.
  • Convert a completed Markdown draft into an editable Word document when needed.

How Cue Litigation Drafting Assistant Works

  1. The agent checks for a Cue API key in ~/.cue/config.json. If a valid key is not configured, the user must obtain one from Cue and provide it; the agent cannot create or retrieve a user’s key.
  2. The agent checks for the Cue research runner and retrieves the current playbook template ID for the requested drafting task.
  3. The user provides case facts, their position, the document type, and any relevant attachments or opposing-party materials.
  4. The agent submits the request to Cue using the research runner. A run may take 3–15 minutes, so the agent waits for completion and does not send duplicate requests.
  5. Cue returns a Markdown report with a case-specific document draft and relevant legal provisions and similar-case references where available.
  6. The agent delivers the report, local file path, and—when the run returns a real conversation ID—the Cue source-report link. It can also ask whether the user wants a DOCX conversion.
  7. A practicing lawyer checks the draft, authorities, and case-specific details and revises it before filing or sending.

Cue Litigation Drafting Assistant Setup

  1. Create a Cue account and obtain an API key at cuecue.cn/api-key. The key must be created by the user.
  2. Provide the key to the agent so it can configure the local environment. The expected configuration file is ~/.cue/config.json.
  3. Ensure the Cue skill repository and research runner are available. The agent can prepare the repository with the following commands:
if [ -d ~/.cue/cue-skills/.git ]; then
  git -C ~/.cue/cue-skills pull --ff-only
else
  git clone https://github.com/sensedeal/cue-skills ~/.cue/cue-skills \
    || git clone https://gitee.com/sensedeal/cue-skills ~/.cue/cue-skills
fi
  1. If connectivity is uncertain, check the Cue health endpoint:
curl -sS --max-time 10 "https://cuecue.cn/api/health"
  1. Submit a concrete drafting request with sufficient case facts and specify the document type. The agent invokes ~/.cue/cue-skills/cue-research/scripts/research_run.py and saves reports under ~/cue-reports/. No standalone installation command or local API implementation is specified by the skill.

Cue Litigation Drafting Assistant Data Schema & Taxonomy

The skill uses a small local configuration and report workflow rather than defining a separate case database.

Item Purpose and format
~/.cue/config.json Local Cue API configuration. The documented key format is JSON, such as {"api_key": "sk..."}. Keep the key private.
~/.cue/cue-skills/ Cloned or updated skill repository containing the Cue research runner.
cue-research/scripts/research_run.py Runner used to submit a query and selected live playbook template ID to Cue.
~/cue-reports/<timestamp>-litigation-drafting.md Local Markdown report output, named with a timestamp and task label.
conv_id Conversation identifier returned by the runner or included in the report’s HTML comment; used to construct the Cue share URL at https://cuecue.cn/share/<conv_id>. Do not invent an ID or create a link when no ID is returned.
Case inputs Facts, party positions, document requests, and supplied materials such as complaints or evidence lists. The skill does not specify a fixed input-file schema.

The skill states that requests use no_store=true by default and that source files and parsed results are not uploaded to the service. Large results over 64 KiB may be temporarily stored locally and are automatically cleared after 24 hours. The skill does not document a persistent local taxonomy for matters, parties, or evidence.

Cue Litigation Drafting Assistant Advanced Features

  • Case-specific drafting replaces rigid template filling with arguments organized around the supplied facts and legal position.
  • Supports adversarial workflows: provide an opposing complaint or evidence list and request a focused defense or evidence objection.
  • Associates claims and defenses with relevant legal provisions and publicly available similar-case references; lawyers must independently verify authorities.
  • Uses Cue’s dynamically maintained playbook templates, retrieving a live template ID for the task rather than relying on a hard-coded template ID.
  • Produces Markdown reports and supports an optional editable Word (DOCX) conversion.
  • Provides report provenance through a Cue share link built only from the actual conv_id returned by the run, plus a local report copy.
  • Includes operational guidance for health checks, invalid keys, timeouts, unavailable playbooks, interrupted runs, insufficient input, and depleted credits. Insufficient-credit failures should not be retried until the user resolves the balance.
  • Applies privacy-conscious handling with no_store=true by default and temporary local retention for large results.
  • This MIT-licensed skill is an integration with Cue services; its output is a draft and must be reviewed by a qualified lawyer before use.
