What is Events Skill?

The Events skill is a robust framework designed to help you build a personal event tracking system. By utilizing Openclaw Skills, users can transform a simple directory into a powerful hub for managing concerts, conferences, parties, and appointments. The system is built on a human-readable Markdown foundation, allowing your AI agent to proactively surface upcoming deadlines, logistics, and ticket information.

This skill focuses on the lifecycle of an event, from initial planning and ticket storage to guest list management and post-event archiving. Because it resides in your local environment, you maintain full control over your data while benefiting from the intelligent organization provided by Openclaw Skills.

Events Skill Use Cases

  • Managing concert tickets, venue locations, and entry logistics.
  • Organizing multi-day professional conferences with detailed session schedules.
  • Tracking hosting responsibilities including guest RSVPs and catering details.
  • Maintaining a recurring list of birthdays and annual anniversaries.
  • Quick lookups for upcoming monthly schedules via a centralized calendar view.

How Events Skill Works

  1. The user mentions an event or plan during a chat session, which triggers the AI to offer tracking.
  2. The skill initializes a structured directory at ~/events/ to house all event data.
  3. For single events, the agent creates specific Markdown files capturing dates, ticket confirmations, and logistics.
  4. For hosting or complex events, the agent generates sub-directories with separate files for guest lists and planning overviews.
  5. As dates approach, the agent uses the Openclaw Skills framework to surface relevant details like door times or registration deadlines.

Events Skill Setup

To get started with this skill, ensure your agent has permission to manage local directories. You can manually initialize the folder structure with the following commands:

mkdir -p ~/events/{upcoming/{concerts,conferences,social,appointments},hosting,past,annual}
touch ~/events/calendar.md
touch ~/events/annual/recurring.md

Once the structure is in place, simply tell your agent to track a new event, and it will begin populating the appropriate folders using Openclaw Skills standards.

Events Skill Data Schema & Taxonomy

The skill organizes data using a hierarchical file system and Markdown templates:

File/Folder Purpose
~/events/upcoming/ Category-specific folders for future events.
~/events/hosting/ Folders for events you are organizing, containing overview.md and guests.md.
~/events/annual/ Contains recurring.md for birthdays and yearly milestones.
calendar.md A chronological summary of all events grouped by month.
event-name.md Individual event files with headers for Event, Date, Venue, Tickets, and Logistics.

Events Skill Advanced Features

  • Multi-day event support with specialized schedule.md files for granular planning.
  • Integrated guest tracking system for hosts to manage confirmed, pending, and declined RSVPs.
  • Progressive enhancement allows you to start with simple notes and scale to full project management for large events.
  • Proactive notifications for registration windows and logistics alerts via Openclaw Skills integration.
  • Support for annual recurring events to ensure birthdays and anniversaries are never missed.
