What is FastMode?

FastMode is a powerful command-line interface designed to streamline the website creation and deployment process for developers and AI agents. It provides a comprehensive solution for generating live websites, managing cloud hosting, and handling structured content through an integrated CMS—all without leaving the terminal. By leveraging Openclaw Skills, users can automate the end-to-end workflow from project initialization to final deployment.

The platform offers free cloud hosting with automatic SSL and support for custom domains. Its architecture is specifically optimized for AI agents, allowing them to perform complex operations like schema synchronization and content CRUD (Create, Read, Update, Delete) through simple bash commands. This makes FastMode an essential tool for rapid prototyping and automated web publishing within the Openclaw Skills ecosystem.

FastMode Use Cases

  • Rapidly deploying landing pages or portfolio sites using AI-driven workflows.
  • Converting static HTML templates into dynamic, CMS-managed websites.
  • Automating blog post updates and team member management via terminal scripts.
  • Providing white-label client portals for content management without exposing backend code.
  • Setting up staging environments with free SSL for testing web applications using Openclaw Skills.

How FastMode Works

  1. Authenticate the CLI using a one-time OAuth device flow which stores credentials locally for future agent use.
  2. Create a new project or select an existing one to establish a unique hosting subdomain.
  3. Define and sync a content schema using a JSON file to set up the database structure.
  4. Populate the CMS collections with content items, including support for rich text and relational data.
  5. Develop HTML templates using Handlebars-style tokens to map CMS data to the frontend.
  6. Validate the package structure and manifest to ensure all paths and tokens are correct.
  7. Deploy the site package to the cloud and monitor the build status for a successful live launch.

FastMode Setup

To initialize this skill, you must first install the CLI package and authenticate your session. This ensures that your Openclaw Skills agent can communicate with the FastMode API.

npm install -g fastmode-cli
fastmode login

After logging in, set your active project to begin managing deployments:

fastmode projects create "My New Website"
fastmode use "My New Website"

FastMode Data Schema & Taxonomy

FastMode utilizes a strict directory structure and a manifest file to organize website data. This structure ensures that Openclaw Skills can accurately parse and deploy your site.

Directory/File Purpose
manifest.json The core configuration file defining page paths and CMS templates.
pages/ Contains static HTML files for fixed pages like Home or About.
templates/ Stores Handlebars-style templates for dynamic CMS collections.
public/ The required root for all static assets like CSS, JS, and images.
schema.json Defines the collections, fields, and relationships for the CMS.

FastMode Advanced Features

  • UUID-based relational fields for complex data modeling between different content collections.
  • Advanced build status monitoring with detailed error logging for troubleshooting failed deployments.
  • Comprehensive validation engine for templates, ensuring all tokens and asset paths are build-ready.
  • White-label client portal invitations with granular permission settings for external collaborators.
  • Support for triple-brace HTML rendering and sophisticated loop modifiers like limit, sort, and filter within Openclaw Skills.
