What is FusionAuth?

FusionAuth is an enterprise-grade authentication and authorization platform built specifically for developers. It simplifies the management of user login, registration, single sign-on (SSO), and overall application security across web and mobile platforms. By integrating this skill into Openclaw Skills, developers can automate identity workflows and access control without worrying about the underlying auth plumbing.

This skill leverages the Membrane framework to provide a secure, AI-ready interface for interacting with FusionAuth APIs. It handles complex tasks like token management and credential refreshing server-side, allowing your AI agents to focus on high-level integration logic and data management within your identity ecosystem.

FusionAuth Use Cases

  • Automating the creation and configuration of new application tenants.
  • Managing user registrations and group assignments programmatically.
  • Monitoring audit logs and login reports for security compliance.
  • Developing custom passwordless authentication flows and email template management.
  • Integrating FusionAuth security protocols into complex multi-agent DevOps workflows.

How FusionAuth Works

  1. The AI agent initiates the skill through the Membrane CLI to establish a secure authenticated session.
  2. A connection is established to the FusionAuth instance URL, which the skill normalizes and validates.
  3. The system searches for specific actions based on natural language intent, such as querying users or updating system configurations.
  4. The skill executes actions via a secure proxy that injects required authentication headers and manages lifecycle states.
  5. Structured JSON data is returned to the agent, enabling seamless processing of identity and security records.

FusionAuth Setup

To get started with FusionAuth and Openclaw Skills, first install the required CLI tool:

npm install -g @membranehq/cli@latest

Authenticate your environment:

membrane login --tenant --clientName=openclaw

Ensure a connection to your FusionAuth instance is active:

membrane connection ensure "https://your-instance.fusionauth.io/" --json

Once the connection state is READY, you can begin running actions or querying the API through the secure proxy.

FusionAuth Data Schema & Taxonomy

The skill organizes identity data into several key logical entities to maintain a clean taxonomy:

Entity Description
User Individual identity records including registration status and metadata.
Tenant Isolation boundaries for managing users and applications.
Application Definitions for OAuth2, OIDC, and specific app-level settings.
Lambda Custom JavaScript functions used for token modification and logic.
Audit Log Immutable records of administrative and security events.
Group Logical collections of users for role-based access control.

FusionAuth Advanced Features

  • Server-side credential management that eliminates the need for exposing API keys in local environments.
  • Natural language intent discovery for finding pre-built actions that optimize token usage.
  • Full support for headless environment authentication using Openclaw Skills remote login flows.
  • Transparent credential refresh to maintain long-running automation tasks without interruption.
  • Direct proxy request support for accessing granular FusionAuth API endpoints not covered by standard actions.
