What is HoneyDew?

HoneyDew is a powerful productivity tool designed for seamless integration between human users and AI agents. It provides a structured Kanban environment where Openclaw Skills can manage the entire lifecycle of a project, from initial task creation to final completion. By leveraging a local REST API, this skill enables agents to interact with boards, cards, and labels, ensuring that every piece of work is accounted for and visible in a real-time web interface.

The core value of HoneyDew lies in its ability to bridge the gap between agent execution and human oversight. By providing a clear visual record of progress and accountability, it ensures that both users and autonomous agents can collaborate effectively within the same project management framework.

HoneyDew Use Cases

  • Creating and updating project tasks on a Kanban board
  • Transferring complex cards from an agent profile to a user for manual review
  • Tracking overdue or high-priority items automatically
  • Adding detailed execution summaries and metadata to completed tasks
  • Categorizing work using custom labels and multi-board movements

How HoneyDew Works

  1. The AI agent connects to the HoneyDew backend via a local REST API endpoint.
  2. Tasks are initialized as cards within specific columns and boards based on user requests.
  3. The agent updates card status (e.g., moving from 'To Do' to 'In Progress') as it performs work.
  4. Comments and metadata (such as token usage and model info) are appended to provide context.
  5. Cards are transferred to the user profile when human intervention or final approval is required.

HoneyDew Setup

Ensure the HoneyDew backend is running locally. By default, it uses port 8000.

# Start the HoneyDew application
./start.sh

# Verify connection
curl http://localhost:8000/health

You can override the default API URL by setting the SMARTIFY_API_URL environment variable. If you require documentation, the docs server can be accessed at port 8001.

HoneyDew Data Schema & Taxonomy

HoneyDew organizes data through a hierarchical structure of boards, columns, and cards.

Entity Key Fields
Board ID, Name, Columns
Column ID, Board ID, Name, Position
Card ID, Column ID, Title, Priority, Profile, Due Date
Label ID, Name, Color
Comment ID, Card ID, Body, Profile

Priority levels are defined numerically: 1 (Low), 2 (Medium), 3 (High), and 4 (Urgent).

HoneyDew Advanced Features

  • Profile Switching: Seamlessly transfer tasks between agent and user profiles to manage handoffs.
  • Agent Metadata Tracking: Log agent_tokens_used, agent_model, and execution times directly into card records for transparency.
  • Python Integration: High-level KanbanTools library for programmatic board manipulation within Openclaw Skills.
  • Multi-Board Mobility: Move cards across different boards while maintaining column context automatically.
