What is Humi?

Humi is a comprehensive human resources platform specifically designed for Canadian small and medium-sized businesses. It centralizes essential functions such as payroll management, benefits administration, performance tracking, and employee directories into a single, cohesive system. By leveraging this integration, developers can build agents that streamline complex HR operations and improve organizational efficiency.

This skill enables seamless interaction with Humi data through Openclaw Skills and the Membrane framework. It abstracts away the complexities of authentication and token management, allowing AI agents to perform complex operations, query employee records, and trigger automated workflows with minimal overhead and high security.

Humi Use Cases

  • Automating employee onboarding and offboarding workflows.
  • Querying employee time-off balances and submitting leave requests.
  • Synchronizing employee directory data with other business tools.
  • Generating and retrieving HR reports for management analysis.
  • Managing tasks and performance reviews programmatically.

How Humi Works

  1. Install the Membrane CLI and authenticate the agent environment using a specific client name.
  2. Establish a secure connection to the Humi instance by providing the platform domain or URL.
  3. Monitor the connection status until it reaches a ready state, handling any required user authentication actions via the provided UI URL.
  4. Discover available HR actions using natural language intent searches to find the best tools for the task.
  5. Execute specific actions or perform direct API proxy requests to manage Humi resources like employees, time-off, and tasks.

Humi Setup

First, install the necessary CLI tool:

npm install -g @membranehq/cli@latest

Authenticate your agent using Openclaw Skills as the client name:

membrane login --tenant --clientName=openclaw

Create a connection to Humi:

membrane connection ensure "https://www.humi.ca/" --json

Wait for the connection to be ready by polling the returned ID:

membrane connection get <id> --wait --json

Humi Data Schema & Taxonomy

The skill organizes data around core HR entities and resources. All outputs are provided in machine-readable JSON format for easy agent consumption.

Entity Description
Employee Core records containing personal details and professional history.
Time Off Data related to leave requests, approvals, and policy balances.
Task HR-related checklists and individual action items.
Directory Organizational structure and team groupings.
Settings Configuration for time-off policies and integration metadata.

Humi Advanced Features

  • Natural language action discovery for finding specific HR functions based on intent.
  • Automated credential management and transparent token refresh via Membrane server-side logic.
  • Proxy request support for sending custom requests directly to the Humi API when pre-built actions are insufficient.
  • Multi-agent support via specialized client names during authentication.
  • Built-in polling mechanisms to handle asynchronous connection and building states.
