What is Imperva?

The Imperva skill provides a powerful interface for interacting with Imperva's world-class cybersecurity services, including web application firewalls, DDoS protection, and bot management. By integrating this skill into Openclaw Skills, developers can programmatically monitor attack analytics, update rate-limiting rules, and manage SSL certificates without manually handling complex authentication headers.

Built on the Membrane framework, this skill ensures that security operations are both accessible and automated. It allows AI agents to observe security postures and react to threats in real-time, leveraging a robust API proxy that handles credential lifecycle management and token refreshes transparently.

Imperva Use Cases

  • Monitoring real-time security events and attack analytics logs.
  • Automating the update of WAF settings such as bot protection and custom rules.
  • Managing origin servers and SSL certificate renewals programmatically.
  • Integrating security workflow triggers within broader Openclaw Skills automations.
  • Auditing site configurations and rate-limiting policies via natural language queries.

How Imperva Works

  1. Install the Membrane CLI and authenticate your environment to establish a secure management layer.
  2. Use the connection ensure command to link your Imperva account, which creates a managed secure tunnel for API requests.
  3. Poll the connection status until the state is marked as READY, ensuring all OAuth or API key requirements are met.
  4. Search for available security actions using natural language intents to identify the correct API endpoints for your task.
  5. Execute specific actions or use the proxy request feature to communicate directly with the Imperva API while Membrane handles the authentication plumbing.

Imperva Setup

First, install the required CLI tool:

npm install -g @membranehq/cli@latest

Next, authenticate your agent (specify openclaw as the client name):

membrane login --tenant --clientName=openclaw

Create a connection to the Imperva service:

membrane connection ensure "https://imperva.com" --json

If the connection state is not immediately READY, follow the provided UI URL to complete the authentication in your browser.

Imperva Data Schema & Taxonomy

The skill organizes Imperva data into a hierarchical structure centered around Site objects.

Data Group Key Components
Account High-level container for all sites and global security policies.
Site Includes Security Events, Attack Analytics, and CDN Settings.
WAF Settings Manages Bot Protection, DDoS Mitigation, and Rate Limiting.
Infrastructure Covers Origin Servers and SSL Certificates.
Actions Metadata for executable tasks including inputSchema and outputSchema.

Imperva Advanced Features

  • Automatic credential and token refresh management for uninterrupted security monitoring.
  • Natural language intent discovery to simplify complex API mapping for Openclaw Skills.
  • Direct HTTP proxy support (GET, POST, PUT, DELETE) with automatic header injection.
  • Support for headless environment authentication using authorization codes.
  • Machine-readable JSON output for all commands to facilitate multi-agent orchestration.
