What is Hyperping?

The Hyperping skill for Openclaw Skills provides a seamless bridge between your AI agent and the Hyperping uptime monitoring service. By utilizing this skill, developers and DevOps engineers can automate the management of health checks, notification groups, and user permissions without manually handling complex authentication flows or credential refreshes. It transforms Hyperping from a static dashboard into an actionable, agentic resource.

Built on top of the Membrane framework, this skill ensures that all interactions are secure and token-efficient. It allows agents to perform natural language searches for specific monitoring tasks or fall back to proxied API requests for deep technical customizations, making it an essential tool for maintaining high availability in modern web infrastructures.

Hyperping Use Cases

  • Automating the creation of new uptime checks when a new service is deployed.
  • Retrieving real-time monitoring data during an incident response workflow.
  • Managing notification groups and alert recipients programmatically.
  • Syncing monitoring configurations across multiple environments.
  • Querying check histories to generate uptime reports via AI analysis.

How Hyperping Works

  1. The AI agent initializes a connection to the Hyperping service via the Membrane CLI.
  2. Membrane handles the OAuth or API key handshake, abstracting sensitive credentials away from the local environment.
  3. The agent searches for specific monitoring actions (e.g., 'create a check' or 'list monitors') using natural language intent.
  4. Actions are executed through a standardized schema, with Membrane managing pagination and error handling.
  5. For non-standard requests, the agent uses the proxy layer to communicate directly with the Hyperping API while maintaining automated header injection.

Hyperping Setup

First, install the Membrane CLI to enable Openclaw Skills integration:

npm install -g @membranehq/cli@latest

Authenticate your agent (replace <agentType> with openclaw):

membrane login --tenant --clientName=openclaw

Establish a connection to the Hyperping service:

membrane connection ensure "https://hyperping.io/" --json

If the connection state is BUILDING, wait for completion:

npx @membranehq/cli connection get <id> --wait --json

Hyperping Data Schema & Taxonomy

The Hyperping skill organizes data into a hierarchical structure that allows Openclaw Skills to navigate monitoring entities easily:

Entity Description
Check The individual uptime monitor for a URL or API endpoint.
Check Group A logical collection of related monitors for bulk management.
Notification Group Defines who receives alerts and via which channel (Slack, Email, etc.).
User Metadata regarding account access and permissions within Hyperping.

All action outputs are returned in machine-readable JSON format, ensuring high compatibility with AI context windows.

Hyperping Advanced Features

  • Natural Language Intent Discovery: Use the action list --intent command to find specific monitoring capabilities without reading API docs.
  • Automated Credential Refresh: Membrane manages session longevity server-side, preventing agent failure due to expired tokens.
  • Transparent Proxying: Send raw HTTP requests to any Hyperping endpoint using membrane request while keeping auth logic externalized.
  • Long-polling Connection Status: Built-in --wait flags for robust handling of asynchronous authentication flows.
