What is Infisical?

Infisical is a specialized secrets management platform designed for developers and DevOps teams to centralize and protect sensitive configuration data. By integrating this capability into Openclaw Skills, users can automate the lifecycle of secrets, control access across different environments, and prevent the dangerous practice of hardcoding credentials. This skill leverages the Membrane CLI to provide a secure bridge between your AI agent and Infisical, handling the complex logic of authentication and token refreshing automatically.

Using this skill within the Openclaw Skills ecosystem ensures that your sensitive data remains protected while being accessible for programmatic workflows. It provides a standardized way to interact with Infisical projects, workspaces, and service tokens, making it an essential tool for maintaining high security standards in automated development environments.

Infisical Use Cases

  • Centralizing API keys and configuration variables across development, staging, and production environments.
  • Automating the retrieval and rotation of sensitive credentials during CI/CD processes.
  • Managing service tokens and user access permissions programmatically to ensure least-privilege security.
  • Discovering and updating workspace secrets without exposing them in local environment files.

How Infisical Works

  1. The user installs the Membrane CLI and authenticates the agent using a specific client name.
  2. A secure connection is established to the Infisical instance, which manages the underlying OAuth or API key handshake.
  3. The agent utilizes natural language intent to search for specific actions, such as retrieving a secret or listing environment variables.
  4. Actions are executed via the CLI, or custom requests are sent through a managed proxy that injects the necessary authentication headers automatically.
  5. The skill handles all credential refreshes and state management, returning structured JSON data to the agent for further processing.

Infisical Setup

To get started with this skill, follow these steps:

Install the Membrane CLI:

npm install -g @membranehq/cli@latest

Authenticate your agent:

membrane login --tenant --clientName=openclaw

Establish a connection to Infisical:

membrane connection ensure "https://infisical.com/" --json

If the connection state is BUILDING, poll until it is READY:

membrane connection get <id> --wait --json

Infisical Data Schema & Taxonomy

The Infisical skill organizes data according to the platform's core hierarchy to ensure compatibility and ease of use within Openclaw Skills:

Component Description
Secret The primary data unit containing key-value pairs and version history.
Environment Logical segments such as Development, Staging, or Production.
Project A workspace container that houses specific environments and secrets.
Service Token Authentication tokens used for programmatic access to specific secrets.
Integration External service connections managed within the Infisical ecosystem.

Infisical Advanced Features

  • Automated credential refresh to maintain long-term connections without manual intervention.
  • Proxy request capability allowing direct interaction with any Infisical API endpoint using managed auth headers.
  • Natural language action discovery that maps user intent to complex secret management operations.
  • Headless environment support for authenticating Openclaw Skills on remote servers or containers.
  • Machine-readable JSON output for all commands to facilitate complex multi-agent orchestration.
