What is IPO Tracker?

The IPO Tracker is a powerful automation utility designed for modern market analysts, traders, and investors. Built to streamline financial market intelligence within Openclaw Skills ecosystem, this utility automatically fetches, processes, and formats Initial Public Offering data so you do not have to waste time doing manual lookups. It interacts seamlessly with the Yahoo Finance IPO calendar to scrape incoming listings and uses the yfinance engine to extract critical real-time indicators like pricing, volume, market cap, and industry sector.

By leveraging this tool inside Openclaw Skills, developers and traders can rapidly generate trading assets. It translates noisy stock data into highly structured, actionable reports and native watchlists ready to import directly into your favorite charting platforms, providing an immediate competitive edge.

IPO Tracker Use Cases

  • Tracking newly listed public companies over a custom trailing time window (e.g., last 30 to 90 days).
  • Generating custom, clean TradingView lists to visualize price action immediately after a company goes public.
  • Scraping the Yahoo Finance calendar programmatically instead of doing manual browser lookups.
  • Consolidating fresh IPO details like market cap, initial stock pricing, and sector classifications into structured CSV files for quantitative modeling.

How IPO Tracker Works

  1. Query Triggering: The system detects intent keywords such as "recent IPOs", "IPO tracker", or "tradingview watchlist" to execute.
  2. Scraping Yahoo Finance: The tool calls the underlying script to scrape the Yahoo Finance IPO calendar over the specified look-back months.
  3. Data Enrichment: It runs tickers through yfinance to resolve real-time metrics, including current price, volume, market cap, and sector.
  4. Asset Generation: The utility generates three separate formatted exports: a plain-text watchlist, an analyst-friendly report, and a detailed CSV database.
  5. Response and Action: The system presents a formatted markdown summary of the newest listings and provides exact directions to load the newly created assets.

IPO Tracker Setup

First, ensure that your environment has all the necessary Python dependencies installed:

pip install -r requirements.txt

To execute the tracker script directly from your plugin directory, run:

python scripts/ipo_report.py --months 1

You can customize your tracking range and output format by passing CLI arguments:

  • --months N: Specify the number of months to look back (default is 1).
  • --format FORMAT: Filter output formats. Choose from all, watchlist, report, or csv (default is all).

IPO Tracker Data Schema & Taxonomy

The IPO Tracker structures and organizes its fetched insights into three dedicated output files inside your local workspace:

File Name Format Primary Contents Purpose
ipo_watchlist.txt TXT EXCHANGE:SYMBOL (one per line) Direct, copy-paste import into TradingView.
ipo_report.txt TXT Structured markdown/text summary Human-readable overview with enriched metrics.
ipo_data.csv CSV Raw structured rows Deep analytical workbooks and spreadsheets.

Watchlist Entry Pattern

Each symbol inside ipo_watchlist.txt follows the exchange-prefixed namespace format required by analytical platforms:

  • NASDAQ:ARM
  • NYSE:KVUE

IPO Tracker Advanced Features

  • Modular Format Outputs: Allows filtering generation to just raw CSV or pure TradingView exchange formats, reducing file clutter.
  • Dynamic Time-Window Filtering: Allows scaling lookbacks effortlessly (e.g., from 1 month to 12 months) directly from simple command parameters.
  • Automated Data Consolidation: Combines lightweight scraping with heavy-duty yfinance lookup calls to output high-fidelity metrics instantly.
  • Workflow Integration: Easily integrated into automated pipelines built around Openclaw Skills, allowing users to schedule daily cron jobs for watchlists.
