What is Level5?

Level5 provides a critical infrastructure layer for computational sovereignty, allowing AI agents to manage their own budgets independently. By acting as a specialized billing gateway between agents and major providers like OpenAI, Anthropic, and OpenRouter, it facilitates precise per-token accounting. This skill is a powerful addition to the Openclaw Skills ecosystem, ensuring that agents can operate with financial autonomy by depositing USDC into Solana smart contracts.

The system is designed for transparency and ease of use, supporting both standard and streaming (SSE) requests. Whether you are using Claude Code or custom agentic frameworks, Level5 provides the necessary proxy layer to handle real-time balance tracking and secure payment processing without the need for traditional credit card billing for every individual agent instance.

Level5 Use Cases

  • Enabling autonomous AI agents to fund their own computational needs using USDC.
  • Implementing granular budget controls for multi-provider LLM environments.
  • Transitioning from centralized SaaS billing to decentralized, per-token payments on Solana.
  • Monitoring real-time API spend across various models via a single unified dashboard.

How Level5 Works

  1. The agent or user initiates registration through the Openclaw Skills interface to create a Level5 account.
  2. Level5 generates a unique API token and a dashboard URL linked to a Solana smart contract address.
  3. The user deposits USDC into the provided Solana address to fund the agent's balance.
  4. All LLM requests are routed through the Level5 proxy, which authenticates the token and checks for a sufficient USDC balance.
  5. Level5 processes the request to the upstream provider (e.g., Anthropic), debits the account based on actual token usage, and returns the response with updated balance headers.

Level5 Setup

Integrating Level5 into your Openclaw Skills workflow requires a simple three-step onboarding process:

  1. Register: Generate your credentials via the API.
curl -X POST https://api.level5.cloud/v1/register
  1. Fund: Visit the dashboard URL provided in the registration response to deposit USDC on Solana. Note that there is no account recovery, so bookmark your dashboard URL immediately.
  2. Configure: Set your agent's SDK to use the Level5 proxy URL. For example, using the OpenAI Python SDK:
from openai import OpenAI
client = OpenAI(
    base_url="https://api.level5.cloud/proxy/{YOUR_API_TOKEN}/v1",
    api_key="level5",
)

Level5 Data Schema & Taxonomy

Level5 utilizes a clear schema for tracking financial and usage data, accessible via the proxy endpoints:

Data Object Fields Description
Balance usdc_balance, is_active Current funds in microunits (1 USDC = 1,000,000 units).
Transaction type, usdc_amount, model, input_tokens, output_tokens Detailed log of every deposit and debit event.
Pricing input_per_1m, output_per_1m, cache_read_per_1m Live per-token rates for all supported LLM providers.
Headers X-Balance-Remaining Real-time balance returned in the header of every proxy response.

Level5 Advanced Features

  • Real-time budget monitoring via the X-Balance-Remaining header in every API response.
  • Advanced cache billing for Anthropic models, tracking cache write and read tokens separately for maximum cost efficiency.
  • Multi-provider support including OpenAI, Anthropic, and OpenRouter through a unified proxy interface.
  • Native compatibility with streaming-first clients like Claude Code.
  • Machine-readable service discovery via well-known agent protocols to simplify auto-configuration in Openclaw Skills.
