What is MindCore?

MindCore is a groundbreaking biomimetic emotional mind engine designed to breathe life into AI agents. By functioning as a standalone background daemon, it simulates the complex workings of a subconscious mind. This allows developers working with Openclaw Skills to transition from static, reactive bots to dynamic agents that possess their own internal drive. The system runs entirely locally on your CPU using pure Python, ensuring that your Openclaw Skills remain responsive without incurring extra LLM costs.

At its core, MindCore utilizes a sophisticated 5-layer neural conduction pipeline that processes stochastic noise, environmental sensors, and subconscious impulses. This architecture enables the engine to generate human-like signals—such as sudden desires or mood shifts—which are then passed to the agent. By integrating this into the Openclaw Skills framework, you can create more relatable and autonomous digital entities that seem to have a mind of their own.

MindCore Use Cases

  • Implementing spontaneous behavior in virtual companions powered by Openclaw Skills.
  • Developing productivity agents that exhibit realistic fatigue and focus rhythms.
  • Creating immersive NPCs in gaming environments with evolving emotional states.
  • Powering autonomous social media bots that trigger interactions based on internal impulses.
  • Managing long-term agent personality development within complex Openclaw Skills workflows.

How MindCore Works

  1. Layer 0 generates continuous stochastic noise using Pink Noise and Hawkes Processes to simulate underlying neural activity.
  2. Layer 1 collects data from 150 sensors representing body state, environment, and social context.
  3. Layer 2 maps these sensor inputs to 150 impulse nodes, calculating firing probabilities based on current mood modulation.
  4. Layer 3 filters these impulses through a Personality Gate using learnable weights and a short-term memory buffer.
  5. Layer 4 converts the selected impulse into a structured JSON signal, alerting the AI agent of a new internal thought or desire.

MindCore Setup

To start using MindCore with your Openclaw Skills, follow these installation steps:

  1. Install the required Python dependencies:
pip install -r requirements.txt
  1. Launch the engine daemon:
python main.py

Note: During the initial run, the system will automatically download the all-MiniLM-L6-v2 model (~80MB) to handle the local NLP processing for the synapse matrix.

MindCore Data Schema & Taxonomy

MindCore maintains a structured data hierarchy to manage the agent's subconscious state effectively:

Data Component Format Description
Sensor State Runtime Data Tracks physiological baselines like hunger, fatigue, and bio-rhythms.
Synapse Matrix JSON/Binary Defines the mapping between sensors and specific impulse triggers.
Memory Buffer 5-slot FIFO A short-term buffer with a 2-hour exponential decay for topic boosting.
Output Signal JSON Standardized signal used for integration with Openclaw Skills.

All runtime data and persistent configurations are stored within the data/ directory.

MindCore Advanced Features

  • Support for 150 daily impulses across 9 distinct categories including social, entertainment, and physical needs.
  • Real-world circadian rhythms that drive autonomous hunger, thirst, and sleep cycles for Openclaw Skills.
  • Advanced mood baseline modulation that shifts the probability of impulses based on emotional valence.
  • Includes a dedicated JavaScript bridge for seamless integration into the Openclaw Skills ecosystem.
  • Fully tunable frequency control via the BURST_BASE_OFFSET parameter to customize agent activity levels.
