How Airtable Works
- The AI agent invokes the Python script located in the skill directory to execute commands.
- The script authenticates with Airtable using the AIRTABLE_PAT environment variable.
- Based on the command (e.g., list-records), the script sends a request to the official Airtable REST API.
- The API returns structured data which the skill parses and presents to the agent for processing or analysis.
Airtable Setup
- Generate a Personal Access Token at https://airtable.com/create/tokens.
- Assign the
data.records:readandschema.bases:readscopes to the token. - Define which bases the token can access (specific bases or all).
- Set the environment variable in your terminal or configuration:
export AIRTABLE_PAT=pat_your_token_here
- Ensure
python3is available in your environment to execute the scripts.
