What is PPT Translator?

The PPT Translator is a specialized tool within the Openclaw Skills ecosystem designed to handle complex PowerPoint translations without compromising the original design. Unlike standard translation tools that often ignore spatial constraints, this skill employs a sophisticated render-and-verify agent loop. It leverages LibreOffice for slide rendering and Vision models to detect text overflow, automatically adjusting font sizes until the translated content fits perfectly within the existing shapes.

This skill is particularly valuable for developers and organizations who need to automate the localization of presentations while ensuring they remain professional and readable. By integrating this into your workflow, you leverage the power of Openclaw Skills to maintain visual consistency across all your global communication assets.

PPT Translator Use Cases

  • Localizing corporate pitch decks for international investors while preserving brand formatting.
  • Converting educational materials into multiple languages for global distribution.
  • Automating the translation of technical documentation stored in PPTX format for engineering teams.
  • Ensuring high-quality visual output for marketing presentations using Openclaw Skills.

How PPT Translator Works

  1. The agent extracts all text elements and their associated styles from the source PPTX file.
  2. Translation is performed via an LLM to ensure linguistic accuracy and context awareness.
  3. The translated text is written back to the PPTX file using the python-pptx library.
  4. The slide is rendered into a high-fidelity PNG image using LibreOffice.
  5. A Vision model inspects the rendered image to detect if any translated text overflows its container.
  6. If overflow occurs, the font size is reduced by 15% and the process returns to step 3.
  7. Once verification passes, the final layout-optimized PPTX file is delivered to the user.

PPT Translator Setup

To use this component of Openclaw Skills, you must install the required Python libraries and system dependencies:

pip install python-pptx
sudo apt-get install libreoffice

You can then execute the translation script via CLI:

python3 scripts/translate.py \
  --input /path/to/file.pptx \
  --output /path/to/output.pptx \
  --translations '{"Original": "Translation", ...}' \
  --max-iter 5
