What is Release Change Analyzer?

Release Change Analyzer is an Openclaw skill for summarizing repository changes during release handoffs. It accepts a commit_patch string from the current request and returns a release_change_set object containing change_id, files, components, additions, and deletions.

The operation works only with the information supplied in the request: it requires no credentials or private-file access, makes no external communications, and does not persist a business artifact. Among Openclaw Skills, it offers a focused way to turn patch information into a release-ready summary.

Release Change Analyzer Use Cases

  • Prepare a concise summary of repository changes for a release handoff.
  • Identify the files and components represented in a supplied patch.
  • Return structured additions and deletions for a release coordination workflow.
  • Run a local operation when external access or persistence is not needed.

How Release Change Analyzer Works

  1. Provide the repository patch as the string value of the commit_patch input field.
  2. Save the request as JSON and pass its file path to the bundled runner using --input.
  3. The operation processes the supplied request and validates input and output through the package's validation code.
  4. Receive the resulting release_change_set object with change_id, files, components, additions, and deletions.
  5. Report the actual command output and, when present, its effect receipt; treat a nonzero exit code as a failed operation.

Release Change Analyzer Setup

Run the operation from the installed package directory with Python 3.10 or newer. Create a JSON request containing the declared commit_patch input field, then pass the request path to the bundled runner. The package uses only Python standard-library dependencies.

python scripts/run.py --input examples/request.json

The bundled example shows the expected input shape. Replace it with a JSON file containing the patch for your release handoff as needed.

Release Change Analyzer Data Schema & Taxonomy

The skill processes a request and returns an output; it does not persist a business artifact.

Field Purpose
commit_patch Required declared input: repository patch supplied as a string.
release_change_set Output object containing the release change summary.
change_id Change-set identifier in the output object.
files File information in the output object.
components Component information in the output object.
additions Addition information in the output object.
deletions Deletion information in the output object.

The package's implementation is in scripts/operation.py; input/output validation is in scripts/validation.py; and role configuration is in scripts/config.json. Bundled example values and configured local records support reproducibility. The SKILL.md does not specify field-level types or formats for the output object's members.

Release Change Analyzer Advanced Features

  • Local, bundled execution through a Python command-line runner.
  • Input and output validation handled by a dedicated validation module.
  • Standard-library-only Python dependencies; no external communication is performed.
  • Reproducible execution supported by bundled example values and configured local records.
  • Operation is limited to its declared task and does not persist business artifacts.
