What is Request?

The Request skill provides a sophisticated interface for AI agents to interact with the Request network, facilitating the management of data, records, and automated workflows. By utilizing Openclaw Skills and the Membrane CLI, developers can bridge the gap between AI reasoning and financial data management without the complexity of manual authentication handling.

This skill is designed to streamline how agents interact with Request participants and comments, ensuring that every interaction is secure and authenticated. It leverages a server-side connection model that handles credential refreshes automatically, allowing your agent to focus purely on the logic of the integration rather than the plumbing of API security.

Request Use Cases

  • Automating the tracking and management of financial request participants.
  • Synchronizing comments and metadata across Request records and external databases.
  • Building AI agents capable of querying transaction history and payment statuses.
  • Developing automated reporting tools that interface directly with the Request API.

How Request Works

  1. The developer installs the Membrane CLI to provide the agent with the necessary tooling.
  2. Authentication is initiated via the CLI, establishing a secure tenant session for the Openclaw Skills environment.
  3. A connection to the Request network is established and verified, ensuring the environment is READY for operations.
  4. The agent searches for specific actions based on natural language intent, such as fetching records or updating comments.
  5. Actions are executed with JSON parameters, or the agent uses the proxy request feature to call the Request API directly with managed headers.

Request Setup

First, install the required CLI tool globally:

npm install -g @membranehq/cli@latest

Next, authenticate your agent (specify openclaw as the client name):

membrane login --tenant --clientName=openclaw

Finally, ensure a connection exists for the Request domain:

membrane connection ensure "https://request.network/" --json

Request Data Schema & Taxonomy

The skill organizes data around the following primary entities:

Entity Description
Request Participants Data regarding individuals or entities involved in a specific record.
Request Comments Associated communication and audit logs for requests.
User Metadata related to the authenticated account holder.
Actions Defined operations with specific inputSchema and outputSchema for structured data exchange.

Request Advanced Features

  • Direct API Proxying: Send custom requests to any Request endpoint while Membrane manages base URLs and auth headers.
  • Intent-Based Action Discovery: Find the right tools by describing what you want to do in natural language.
  • Headless Authentication: Support for server-side or non-interactive environments via manual code completion.
  • Automated Connection Polling: Built-in wait mechanisms for connections currently in a BUILDING state.
  • Multi-Agent Optimization: Tuning parameters specifically for Openclaw Skills and other modern AI harnesses.
