What is RSS Digest?

RSS Digest is a specialized tool within the Openclaw Skills ecosystem designed to solve the problem of information overload. By connecting an AI agent to the feed CLI, this skill enables an automated process for scanning dozens of RSS feeds, identifying high-signal entries, and providing concise summaries of the most relevant news. It is built for developers and researchers who need to stay informed without manually sifting through hundreds of headlines daily.

The skill emphasizes efficiency by utilizing a triage system that prioritizes insightful or contrarian content. By integrating Openclaw Skills with local CLI tools, it provides a seamless bridge between your RSS database and your AI agent's reasoning capabilities, ensuring you never miss a critical update from your favorite technical blogs or news sources.

RSS Digest Use Cases

  • Creating a personalized daily briefing from technical blogs and industry news sites.
  • Quickly catching up on specific topics by searching across all subscribed RSS feeds.
  • Summarizing long-form articles to decide which ones warrant a full read.
  • Transitioning from a manual feed reader to an automated, AI-curated content flow.

How RSS Digest Works

  1. The agent scans recent unread entries using the feed CLI to generate a metadata-rich list including titles and summaries.
  2. If the local database is empty, the agent can import a starter set of popular technical blogs via OPML.
  3. Based on the user's prompt or specific interests, the agent triages the entries to select the most impactful posts.
  4. For selected entries, the agent fetches the full content—preferring direct URL fetching to optimize context window usage—and synthesizes a 2-3 sentence summary.
  5. The final digest is presented to the user, grouped by theme for easy consumption.

RSS Digest Setup

To use this skill, you must have the feed CLI installed on your system. You can install it using one of the following methods:

# Option 1: Install via Homebrew
brew install odysseus0/tap/feed

# Option 2: Install via Go
go install github.com/odysseus0/feed/cmd/feed@latest

After installation, the Openclaw Skills agent will be able to invoke the feed commands to manage your subscriptions.
